Chapter Six: Cats away, Mice will play
I made it to my locker without anyone interruptions, thankfully. Angel meowed softly at me and I couldn't help but scold her, "I still can't believe you snuck in my bag and how stupid am I for not noticing you?" I opened my locker and let Angel float next to me with her head down. I took out some books for my next class and debated whether or not I should text daddy to pick up Angel. Ultimately, I decided against it. I mean how bad could she be for the next few classes, I'll just have to keep an eye-
"H-hey, whoa!" A familiar voice whined. I looked to my left to see Angel was no longer there, Oh no... I turned to my right and slowly closed my locker door to reveal those sparkling blue eyes and awkward smile.
"J-Jackson...?" I stared at him, ears and tail twitching.
He smiled and nodded lightly, "Does she belong to you?" He pointed to the top of his head where Angel was laid, fast asleep.
I gasped, "Oh, sorry." I grabbed the small feline off of him, blushing at the brief close proximity and held Angel tight as she remained asleep. "I'm really sorry, she is still just a kitten..."
"It's alright," He turned back to his locker, "she sure is cute."
For a second, I wanted to believe he was talking about me but I quickly snapped out of that, "Rawr-I mean, Angel? Yeah, she is pretty adorable..."
He nodded. It's now or never, Kitty. I brushed some hair out of my face and put on a Cheshire smile, "H-hey, Jackson, I wanted to ask you something-"
"Oh, yeah, I wanted to ask you something, too. It's about the Skrm tournament..." The half-ghoul scratched his head nervously. Well, this worked out...
"Sure, you first." I stroked Angels fur and she purred in return, giving me a sense of calm."Well, it's tonight and well... Toralei asked me to go with her and I need your advice on if I should go with her or not. Normally she's up to no good but she seemed so kind earlier. Do you think...?" He looked down, shyly. So cute...
I cleared my throat after I noticed I was ogling him. Then it hit me: Toralei wasn't kitten around, she actually asked him. And the worst part is that he was actually considering it... And he wanted my opinion?
"W-well, d-do you like her?" My mouth was dry and I was in desperate need of some milk and a good scratching but I needed to know.
"Truthfully? Not really, no." I released a breath I wasn't aware I was holding. "I've got my eyes on another ghoul." he smiled and blushed. Awww.
"Another ghoul?" I accidentally repeated out loud. He nodded but unfortunately, didn't elaborate.
"So what was it that you wanted to ask me?"
I jumped, oops... "I... Um... It's nothing, don't worry about it. I've gotta go, don't wanna be late?" I scurried past him with an almost inaudible 'Bye Jackson'.

In History of the Undead, I couldn't help staring at the back of Jackson's head. Who could be the ghoul on his mind? Does he think of her as much as I think of him? I sighed and tried to distract myself by actually listening to the professor.
After class, we had some free time to chat and discuss, thankfully, I managed to keep Angel out of trouble and Professor excused the disruption she caused due to me being new.
Draculaura tapped my shoulder, "Hey, did you talk to him?" She whispered, pointing down at Jackson. I nodded, my eyes still locked on his head. "Well? Spill, ghoul, what happened?"
I paused before responding then managed to tear my eyes away from him and looked at Draculaura, "Toralei asked him already. He doesn't like her, though, he likes someone else." The last part was almost a whisper.
Draculaura frowned, "Really? Well, we'll just have to find out who that is, yes? Maybe we'll find out at the tournament tonight?"
Ghoulia and Abbie nodded. I sighed at turned back to Jackson who was writing something in his notebook. "Maybe..."

After school, Draculaura drove me home and insisted that's she and Frankie stay there until the tournament started. As much as I tried to protest, those were some persistent ghouls. The three of us went to my room where I put Angel in her small bed and I greeted Tiger and Oddball.
"Ack, um, Kitty, that's a tiger.." Frankie jumped when the cub jumped on my bed and attempted to roar, only resulting in a strained meow.
I giggled and took off my shoes, "I know, but he's not gonna hurt ya, right Tiger?" He attempted another roar only to fail. Draculaura immediately took a liking to Oddball, and he was loving the attention she gave him.
We hung around for a while until my dad decided to mess with us. "Kitty? Oh, I didn't know you had friends over." He appeared in the doorway, scarring Frankie and causing her to spark.
I ran a hand threw my fur, "Oh, yeah." I sighed, "Uh, ghouls, this is my dad-"
"Kingsley Cheshire, ladies, nice to meet you." He floated so that he was upside down, shaking Frankie's hand and smiling at Draculaura. "I believe I met you yesterday, yes? Uh, Draculaura?"
Said vampire nodded, "Yessir, that's me."
"And your name, miss?" He asked Frankie, still upside down and still holding on to her hand.
"Oh, Frankie."
"Frankie? What a wonderful name."
"Alright daddy, time to go." I giggled and waved him away, "We've got to get going, anyway."
Draculaura checked her iCoffin for the time, "Oh yeah, we should go if we want to meet the other ghouls."
"Oh yes, that Skrm thing is tonight? I almost forgot." Dad smiled, mischievously.
He's planning something.
"Okay, come now, let's go." I glared at him and pushed Frankie and Draculaura out of my room, down the hall and out the front door at top speed.
"Whoa!" They exclaimed but I ignored them.
"Bye daddy!" I yelled over my shoulder and closed the twin doors. Phew... "Apologies, ghouls, my dad is royally known to scare off all my friends. It's a bad habit of his."
Frankie got in Draculara's car and laughed, "I like him, he seem exciting."
"Ew." I mocked a gag and hopped in the backseat. "Anyway, let's go, I can wait for my first Skrm tournament, meow~"
And with that Draculaura was speeding down the road to the stadium.
