It was pretty dark inside the narrow path as the seven guys walked one by one, peeking through each small hole they find.
"Stop"
Soren who was leading their way said suddenly.
"Did you see something?"
Caelan who was right behind him asked.
"I saw something moving in there"
He then said.
The rest of the trainees moved closer to have a look through that small hole, the room was pretty dark they could barely see a single thing.
"Are you sure?"
Victor asked.
"I am!"
Soren replied.
But since they could not find a way to enter that room they had to ignore whatever he thought he saw and keep moving forward.
He walked around that dark room, his fingers touching Leo's working desk, then slowly carrying one of the empty glasses to sniff it.
Mumbling a few words in Petrian, looking into the desk drawers hoping he could find something but nothing seemed to be useful to him.
A footsteps sound coming from afar was heard, he hid under the desk waiting quietly.
Someone opening the door, carrying a lamp in between his hands.
Ezra walked into Leo's study and looked disappointed the moment he realised it was empty.
Without wasting any time, he rushed back outside.
The silver haired guy got up and walked towards the closed window, setting it open and jumping off of it.
The guards walking towards the throne room were exchanging worries while heading to take over the night shift.
They were surprised when they saw their friends on the ground and rushed towards them.
The same moment Elmer and Arthur arrived and were pretty confused by the situation.
"They're alive, just sleeping"
The guard said to his friend who's eyes just met Elmer's
"OPEN THE DOOR AND CHECK ON THE KING"
He shouted while holding his sword in between his hands tightly ready to fight.
A guard opened the door and two rushed inside with him.
Not a single second of standing still, Leo was not going easy on Louis who was struggling yet still dodging all of those strikes and trying to fight.
"Prince Louis and the king are fighting"
One of the guards said, he sounded like he was in disbelief and so his friend stood there speechless not knowing if they should interfere or not.
Without saying a word, Elmer ran towards the door, fighting whoever tried to stop him.
"Go in Now"
Arthur shouted, while his sword clashed with the guard's.
Elmer took the chance to get through and pass the three guards who were still standing by the door peeking on the inside without fighting.
He made it in and pushed the door closed and lean his back into it.
Leo and Louis did not get the chance to look at Elmer, their strikes were fast and intense that even if one of them let his guard down for a good second he would be facing his end.
Elmer's eyes widened in shock when he saw Louis fighting.
Not because they agreed to do it together but because there was a blood lake right under his feet.
Louis could smell it but he did not feel that he was bleeding so much from his wound.
Arthur's reflexes did catch the guards by surprise, since none of them was able to touch him or even get close to him.
He was not just another guard in an army of millions of people, he was just one royal bodyguard who worked under Lord Morris for years.
While fighting them all at once, he noticed one of the guards trying to push the door open.
"ELMER, lock the door now"
Elmer on the other side was unable to hear a single word, as if time stopped for him.
Arthur had to keep shouting the same sentence for a while, calling out for Elmer before he was able to snap out of it.
The prince did lock the door from the inside, putting all of his trust into Arthur, hoping he would be able to win.
Looking at his left hand while his right one held his sword. It was shaking nonstop and he was not able to control it.
Elmer took a deep breath before running towards the two fighting by the throne.
His strike threw Leo's sword away.
Without taking a look at the king, he ran towards Louis.
"You are an idiot, how could you lie to me?"
Elmer said while walking him towards the door, away from Leo.
Helped him sit down, leaning his back into the wall.
"Am sorry, Elmer"
Louis said.
"ARTHUR"
Elmer suddenly shouted.
"I need a medicine woman, her name is Clair ask the rest to look for her with you"
The first prince then added.
He wanted Arthur to leave the guards behind and prioritise finding Clair.
"On it"
Arthur simply replied.
Elmer was surprised that Arthur left and yet no one tried opening the door or breaking in.
Only if he knew that yet another eight guards were all beaten up.
"He took Edmund"
Louis said trying to catch his breath, from the moment his body stopped moving, he became more aware of the pain and was barely able to survive it.
Elmer leaned down, putting his hand on Louis's shoulder, saying with the same old gentle smile,
"I will find him, I promise"
Louis nodded his head, he did not say a thing but he knew he would trust Elmer and accept his lost.
Leo who just grabbed his sword again was watching from afar.
Even though they were just cousins, they looked more like brothers than he and Hiram have ever did.
Leo could not understand how his son was not fighting for his own place on top of that throne.
How come there was not a single drop of envy or jealousy in his eyes whenever he looked at Elmer?
When he realised that they have been on the same side from the very start, it was hard for him to accept it.
Not because he trusted Louis but because he did not accept how they managed to understand each other and communicate while he had to take Hiram's life before touching his childhood dream.
"How could you do this to Louis? and where is Edmund? I can not believe you were making fun of my own father out there while you could not even love yourself or your family"
Elmer said while walking towards his uncle.
"You lost, Leo, this is the end for you, was it worth it?"
The prince asked while he pointed his sword at the king who did not seem to have a response.
Elmer's feet moved running towards Leo swinging his sword as hard as he could...
