The clashing of their swords was the only thing keeping Louis awake as he started to lose consciousness slowly.
Leo and Elmer facing each other, blow for blow. Each swift would sound like it could break both swords yet they survive the force somehow.
Elmer tried to stay collected but the rage was shown on his face, he was not fighting there as a prince but as one of Lydia's people, he wanted no revenge, just a better life for his own people.
Leo on the other side had such a cold expression, same old face.
He thought that if he knew that there would be no tomorrow for him, he would not fight but he found himself giving it his all.
They looked like they were equals in the fight, each strike and dodge would go by easily. Both of their attacks and defences looking flawless.
For a good moment, Leo's vision went blurry, he could barely see Elmer's movement and ended with a deep cut in his left shoulder.
Leo immediately backed down, his right arm was all he had left, holding tight into his left shoulder while still trying to keep his strong grip around his sword.
Elmer did not stop or let him catch a breath but took the opportunity to attack more, and Leo was not able to dodge all of those strikes, he ended up with more cuts all over his body.
The moment he felt like he could barely see, he knew there was no point in dying while fighting for a dream that was long gone.
"Edmund is here"
Leo suddenly said, his words stopping Elmer from attacking.
He digged his sword into the prince's right leg and ran towards the door.
Elmer's scream of pain woke Louis up.
He saw his father struggling to open the door but he ended up doing it and leaving the room.
"ELMER"
Louis shouted.
The first prince was down on one knee, taking in deep breaths while looking at the sword left inside of his bleeding leg.
"Am alright"
Elmer replied still gowning in pain, just by looking at it, he felt so dizzy and had to lie down.
"ELMER"
Louis shouted again but he did not get an answer.
A lot of mumbling coming from Louis's chamber where the seven trainees had a lot to say.
"What are we waiting for?"
Victor asked.
"We can not knock down two guards"
Soren replied.
"Why not? we're seven"
Victor said.
But Soren was not confident that they could do it. Because they would never go as far as to hurt a guard and that was the reason they did not stand a chance.
While he was lost in his own thoughts, Caelan tapped on his shoulder to grab his attention.
"What is it, Caelan?"
He asked turning around.
To his surprise the door was open and Caelan was the only one still inside the room with him.
"I already told you, our orders are clear, no one can get into this side of the palace"
The guard said.
