I wasn't logging on some crazy dating site filled with lunatics, I just wanted to meet a good human guy. Elena had set me up, I had a date tonight but I needed to see Bonnie first.

"Hey Bon, can you get Klaus from the other side?" I asked

"So you can talk?Yes, I will," she paused

"He's here,"

"I don't know if you know what I'm doing but I'm going on a date tonight. I will always love you and ultimately you have my heart but I need to accept that you aren't coming back. I need to be happy, so does Esther,"

"I don't know if you know about her but that's our daughter, she asks about you everyday and I love sharing stories. She's a beautiful girl with a huge heart and I know if you would have met her, you'd love her. I miss you so much and I love you even more but I believe you'd want me to be happy at some point," I thanked Bonnie then left.

I didn't really want him to respond, I just wanted to know that he was listening.

"I'm really glad Elena set us up," Ethan said as we stood in front of my door

"Me too, I had a great time tonight," he smiled as the words escaped my lips

" I really hope we can do this again soon," he leaned in slowly

Right when our lips were about to touch the front door swung open.

I had a very adorable six year old staring up at Ethan and I.

"What do you think you're doing mister?" Esther put her hand on her hip and evaluated him

"I was hugging your mom goodnight," he chuckled

"That's not what it looked like from the window," I started laughing and looked away from Ethan

"Esther please go inside, I'll be inside in a minute," I bent down and kissed her forehead

"Those kisses are for me buddy," she said before going back inside

"I am so sorry," I laughed

"She is so comical, I love it," he laughed too

Once the laughter died down, there was only silence between us.

"I totally understand, I have a son who is so rambunctious," his hand grabbed mine as we smiled at each other

"He's probably wondering where I am this late, here's my number. Call me when you're free and maybe the kids can meet each other," he kissed my cheek before walking off to his car

I think I really like him.
