A New Beginning

Chapter One - We Were Kids

(y/n) walked down the halls of the academy that she had attended all her life. This school in particular was only for the children of country leaders. It is the safest place for them to be in since it's in the middle of the ocean and only certain people know its location. The academy was known as Red Star Academy. 

(y/n) was actually a very popular student. Many of the boys liked her very much but she never really focused on dating or being in love. She was actually friends with almost everyone in the school she mostly only hangs out with her closest friends however which are; Natalya of Belarus, Elizabeta of Hungary, Irunya of Ukraine, Erika of Liechtenstein, and Mathew of Canada.

They all were really close since their parents were the ones with closer foreign affairs and things like that so they all saw each other often. Mathew was the oldest of the bunch followed by Irunya, Elizabeta, Natalya, Erika and finally (y/n).

They all walked down the halls discussing a grand ball that Mathew had to have because he would be leaving middle school soon to become a freshman at the Academy's high school. It was a right of passage to the his family since they were very wealthy people and enjoyed celebrating over every little thing. Irunya, Mathew and Elizabeta eventually had to leave since they were in eighth grade and their classes started a bit before the seventh grade classes did. 

After school they went to the Academy's forest which was where their little group would always hang out and talk as well as discuss things about their countries and stuff. They began to discuss more things about the party and their social life. They sat for a while and (y/n) got up for a bit since her legs began to grow tired of sitting. As she walked around them trying to keep herself entertained she was hit by an American Football that came out of nowhere on the side of her leg. She fell but luckily Irunya had caught her in time. 

"What's the big idea?!" Elizabeta said getting pretty mad at the person who threw it. 

He began to approach them. "I'm sorry. I lost control of the ball." The boy said scratching the back of his head. 

"Oh hey big brother Alfred." Mathew said handing him the ball.

As Alfred reached for the ball his eyes widened when he saw (y/n) so he ran away quickly.

"What was that all about?" Natalya asked knowing that there was something wrong between (y/n) and Alfred.

Elizabeta got more pissed off. "Who does that butthole think he is?? I'm going to lose control of the ball to and make sure it goes right up his a-" She was interupted by Irunya who covered her mouth since she didn't like her saying bad words.

As they all settled down (y/n) asked again about the matter and Mathew and (y/n) didn't know what to say. They both sighed and nodded to each other agreeing that they would explain everything. 

(y/n) began to speak. "When we were kids the three of us used to be very close friends and we would always stay over at each other's houses. It was somewhere in July that he became friend's with the wrong people who only got close to him in order to hurt him. He was really fond of joining their group so he was forced to.." She sighed. "....he was ordered to hurt me when I was asleep at the time we were near the beach and we didn't have the usual body guards so it was easy for him to get by everyone. When he was about to swing I woke up and luckily I moved so he had only hit my arm. I backed away out of fear and he dropped his bat and was apologizing but I screamed for help since he started to get closer to me so he left in an instant. "

Mathew began to tell his share of the story. " It was morning when he and I went out for a walk and we talked about our parent's divorce and about our brothers as well. When we were crossing a bridge something happened that caused a car to swerve and come in our direction and before I knew it Alfred was in the water unconscious. An ambulance was called straight away and luckily he made it." Canada sighed. "Many of his memories didn't, however. The only things that he does remember are all the bad times he had with (y/n) and he's scared to hurt her once more so he tries to keep his distance from her."

(y/n) quickly followed up what he said. "I've told him many times that I forgave him for all that happened but he won't listen to me and he always leaves when we're alone. I've tried to talk to him countless times but he never bothers to listen and he sometimes goes away before I can even say a word to him."

Everyone sat there without any words for a while. All that they could hear where the birds up in the tree's and the wind blowing against the grass and leaves. 

"The end of the year is only a few days away isn't it?" Irunya said fixing her hair that was a bit messed up because of the wind.

"Yeah then all of us won't be in the same building anymore." (y/n) said setting her head down on Irunya's lap since it was what she would always do when she felt sad.

Canada was a bit saddened but he smiled in order to keep everyone happy. "It will only be a year that we will all be apart and we will still be able to see each other after school so remember that. It's not like we're going to an entirely different place." He said trying to cheer everyone up.

They all nodded and were very cheerful. As it began to get dark Mathew escorted all the girls back to the girl's dormitory and then left to go to his dormitory. He used to share a room with someone but since the person had skipped a grade he was alone in the dorm. 

A few days passed and all the eighth grades had graduated everyone was crying but they were happy that they were able to graduate. Not long after they had left to go to Mathew's house to get ready for the big party. 

All the girls had their dresses shipped to Mathew's house since they were staying at his house because they wanted to. It was very awkward at times especially when it was time to eat since no one knew what to say because of the whole situation.

The party took place at around 7 PM and many people had gone there to congratulate Mathew for graduating middle school. They had fun especially when the dancing had come along. Mathew and Ukraine where the ones who mostly danced together. All of (y/n)'s closest friend's had dance partners as well so she was all alone.  She didn't really mind since she was happy seeing everyone have fun. Even Alfred was having a great time as he danced with Michelle (Seychelles).

"May I have this dance, princess?" Someone had said. The man wore a mask (y/n) was a in denial to take his request but it would be rude to say no so she accepted.

(y/n) was not a very graceful person so there where many times where she had almost stepped on the mans feet. They got a bit tired since they both weren't used to dancing so (y/n) quickly snuck past the man and went to one of the balcony where almost every star in the sky could be seen. She leaned against the balcony and looked up at the stars with a smile and sighed softly.

In the blink of an eye something had happened and she was pushed off the balcony. Luckily her shawl was made out of very strong material so she was hanging there.

"Someone please help me!" She cried and screamed feeling extremely scared because of how high up she was. The shawl began to rip a little but she climbed up with all her might and grabbed the edge of the balcony. She sighed in relief but because of the gloves she was wearing she slipped.
