Dear Readers,

I owe you another apology for how late this chapter is.

I'm sorry. Thank you for sticking with The Spare all these weeks. Also, thanks for all the votes and reads. :)

The good news is, I've already planned out all the remaining chapters so writing them should be easier and take less time. (Should being the operative word there.) There will be about five more chapters after this one, and then this tale will come to its end.

Don't forget to vote, comment, follow, share or add The Spare to a reading list! :D

Stay beautiful.

xoxo,

SunniSkys

Chapter Eleven

Four days later, Leo was once again summoned by his father. Realizing that the return of King Xavis to the royal palace signaled an end to their previously undisturbed two-week hideaway, Isis had suggested that they return to the palace permanently. Leo had reluctantly agreed, but had promised to find a wing on the furthest side of the palace from his family that they could make their own. Isis had liked that idea greatly, and had told him so.

Leo had looked so ridiculously pleased by this that it had been cute.

Who would have ever thought she'd think of her dark prince as cute? It was almost enough to convince her that she should allow herself to fall in love with him.

Almost.

In fact, there had been quite a few moments when she had been tempted to do just that, but then she would remember the look on his face when he'd accused her of trapping him into marriage intentionally, and the exact tone he'd used when he'd called her 'wife' like it was the vilest of insults. Those were enough to harden her heart towards him once again, just enough so that the notion of falling completely for him no longer seemed so tempting.

Love isn't just an emotion. Sometimes it's a decision. Sometimes one has to make up their mind to love someone before they actually do. Isis was not choosing to love him.

Not yet, anyway.

"I will be going into Jarah today, Leo", she announced as they entered the garden courtyard. She had been calling him Leo more frequently since the banquet and had found that it had become easy to do so in that short amount of time.

"Oh?" he murmured. She nodded.

"I'm not quite ready to face the dragon that is Rashida. She will probably try to merge Synlasia lessons and wedding planning – I won't get a chance to breathe."

"Then, by all means, make your escape, Princess", Leo said with a dramatic sweeping bow. He rose from his bow, laughter dancing in his eyes. "As long as you come back to me, and do not go alone."

"Of course not – I'd get lost if I did. As to me coming back, well, you'd better hope I don't find someone who can cook better than you on my journey." She grinned. "I'm meeting my bodyguards today. They will come with Aysel and me."

"You've been assigned some already?" Leo asked in surprise as he draped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close, inhaling the faint scent of her vanilla shampoo. It was her favorite, he'd discovered.
