The world was not at all how Daime imagined it would be. It looked like a tropical rainforest back on earth. The lush green tress high above the ground so tall it clouded your view of the sky. The soft grass on the ground, rare fruits and flowers adorning the trees or plants making it look exotic, yet we could not let the beauty of this place misguide us. It was foreign territory we didn’t know anything about this place and it could be deadly just as it is beautiful.
“Daime we’re ready” Radio said just as entranced as the others that were on the group.
“Okay you are to take samples of living life, plants, animals things like that, if you come across anything suspicious contact me first and do not take abrasive action upon them. If you find any alien life do not harm it contact me. Don’t go out of a ten-mile radius. Now are my orders clear or are we going to have a problem” Daime said authority ringing in her voice. She couldn’t let what happened in the other planet happen to this one. The council had given them a second chance after she agreed to certain terms, and months of beginning, “I said are my orders clear”
“Yes ma’am!” they responded automatically.
“Good Violet, and Liz are with me, I want groups of tree in any case four now spread out” Daime said walking with her research party towards the woods while the rest got into groups and spread out.
“Daime look at this” Liz said dropping his gun and climbing up the three seeming natural as if he were made to do it, “Look” he said jumping back down a purple fruit with thorn like spines coming out of it.
Daime studied the fruit slowly; “Good Liz now both of you keep searching” Daime said grabbing a three branch and hoisting her self up on it. Slowly and carefully she started to climb higher and higher till she found the top of the tree where Violet’s and Liz shouts were no longer heard.
“Wow” she managed to whisper out. The view was amazing up here beyond the three lines laid what looked like a vast desert it was as if the threes and vegetation just stopped and gave away to the wide range of open land.
“Daime get your self back down here!” Violets demanding voice was heard through the radio in her space suit.
“Coming Vio but you don’t know what your missing out on” Daime responded and climbed down from three branch to three branch gathering samples along the way.
“Good your back down” Liz said looking up at Daime that was sitting on the lowest three branch.
“May I know why you called me down here again” she asked jumping down again in one fluent motion. Her body movements seeming natural and graceful.
“We have to keep moving, Radio and Nyx along with Rayne found a body of water, problem is they don’t know if it’s the chemical compound found on earth or if its another sort of element in liquid form” Liz said.
“Well what are we waiting for than” Daime said and followed Liz to where Radio and the rest where located. Trying not to be mesmerized by the beauty of the nature of this place everything seemed foreign and exotic and it was. There was a flower that drew Daime’s attention from the path it was beautiful its yellow and pink petals with red in the middle drawing her in. She got closer to it and laid a hand on its soft silk like petals.
“Look Li-”
Something seemed to grasp her hand as she tried to pull away looking down on the flower Daime noticed green like tentacle vines coming from the flower raping around her arm and spreading up each time she took in a breath or tried to move the vines would rap tighter around her making it harder to move.
Daime took her army knife in a panic and cut the flower from its roots it slowly loosened its python like grip and fell off leaving ugly marks on Daime’s right arm.
