"Shoot." I say, and slam my head into the dashboard. Now I was really going to die.
"What was that about? Do you know those guys? Why'd u kick him in the... Well you know?" Ashley asked as soon as she got into the drivers seat huffing for air.
"Just, go before they come after me!" I scream. She doesn't waist anytime asking, she puts the car in reverse and floors it. That people is why I love my sister. She is intimidated by me. She pulls into the driveway, and I get out ready to run upstairs and not be seen by people for a month, but to my luck we open the door to find two loving grandparenty eyes looking at us with concern. Suddenly my grandma pulls me into an embrace crushing my bones with her chocolate chip cookie scent.
"Ashley! Zoe, we missed you." My grandpa said and kissed us both on the forehead.
"Missed you to!" Ashley says inviting them into the living room.
"Is it okay If I go up stairs real quick? Mom promised she'd call me if, she got the position." They nod, and I race up stairs with the baseball wrapped tightly underneath my fingers. I slam the door behind me, and fling myself onto my bed. I scream into my pillow, to help let out my anger. I promised Ashley I wouldn't go down to the ring this weekend, because my grandparents wouldn't approve, so I'm going to let my frustration out into my assorted bedroom accompaniment. I let the baseball slip out of my fingers, and roll onto the white carpeted floor. After a few minutes of arguing with myself I groan, and push myself off my ocean bed spread. I stare at it moment tairily thinking about his beautiful daring blue eyes. Who was he? I let my mind wonder, as someone knocks on the door, then enters.
"Dinners ready, we ordered pizza!" Ashley says, than marches back downstairs into her room. I find the baseball on the floor, underneath my penny board shelfs. I redesigned my room a few weeks ago, but My mom hasn't noticed. Her being a nurse is the most important to her, and this means she doesn't get to sleep much. This week she worked a 48 hour shift for 4 days. I decided to go with a beach theme because it was relaxing. I bought a lot of the stuff in my room from a thrift store, and online then I just reinvented them. My room was painted a darker than Aqua, but not as dark as indigo blue. I even painted a few Palm trees on the wall. Trust me, I'm no artist when it comes to pencil and paper, but surprisingly I'm actually really good with a paintbrush. My attention finally gets pulled back to the fact that Ashley said we had pizza. I grabbed the baseball that suddenly felt like it didn't belong here. A sigh escapes my lips, and I shove it at the back of my bottom dresser drawer. I unplug my phone from my bedside table, and type in my Mom's number that sadly had been lodged into my brain ever since I was 9 years old.
A heave'd sigh enters my ear then a perky
"Hello?" Answers the phone. This definitely sounded like Mom. She's always the one to be really depressed but act like she's the happiest women on the planet."Hey Mom I know your really busy, I just wanted to know if you got the position or not?"
"Thanks for asking baby, but I won't know till tomorrow. Is Grandma and Grandpa there?"
"Yeah they got here about an hour ago I think. Ashley ordered pizza I'll put some in the microwave for you when you get home."
"Thanks sweetheart, I might not be home till around 1 tonight. I volunteered to scrub in for Doctor Barns tonight." She says I'm sure a smile is on her face at the moment. My Mom is a nurse but she could do anything dealing with medical things. Getting a chance to preform surgery is a chance she would never pass up.
"You know volunteering doesn't get you more money..., and you could always ask you're brother for help."
"Zoe you know better than I do that he wants nothing to do with us. " she says with a sigh.
