For the next few minutes he sat there staring at me, and me, him. To say it was awkward and weird would be an understatement. He studied me from behind his glasses, with this look in his eye I'm not sure I liked. I fidgeted waiting for him to say something. Anything really.
"I like you."
Anything but THAT!!
"W-what??!" I spluttered trying to figure out what he meant.
"I admire your persistence. From your escape from the hospital to how well you're taking in all this information. It's truly admirable."he responded.
Ohhhhh that's what he meant. Oh thank God, thought I'd have to run and change my name and sell coconuts for the rest of my life on some Honduran beach.
What? You never underestimate someone like Dr. Wells. Something is just off about him.
"Oh um, uh....well thanks? I think?"
"Oh it's no problem believe me. Honestly I'm glad you've shown up. Now Barry will have more help especially outside these walls. I mean there's only so much we can do from here. Thank you for deciding to start training."he said as he started wheeling down the dark walkway. I stood there unsure if he was finished talking to me, which I was secretly hoping he was. That hope was soon short lived as he looked over his shoulder motioning for me to follow. I sighed and slowly started to follow, pausing to look back at the door where sweet freedom waved me good bye.
I followed him to an opening where there was a heavily armored door. Going up the small ramp which I assumed was made for Dr. Wells , we came to a stop where he then entered the necessary code to open it.
"I'm sure no one has actually told you the story of what took place here that night. So I thought I'd let you see it up close."he said looking out into the darkness just beyond the door frame. I looked as well, not really seeing how darkness was so "captivating". Just then the lights turned on and then I understood why.
This place was amazing. There were pipes all along the walls inside and it went as far as the eye could see. From what I remember Cisco showing me on the computer, this was where the advanced particle accelerator was. It was huge. There was a bridge across to the other wall over what looked like an abyss. I wondered how far down it was and if Dr. Wells tried to attack me if I could push him over and be sure knowing he'd hit the ground hard.
It's just a precaution. One can never be too sure.
"Well it all began when we were trying to create a faster way to carry out our experiments. I came up with the brilliant idea that we should create this vessel which would accelerate our process therefore making us the fastest and most efficient scientific lab this side of the Western Hemisphere. With the help of Caitlin, oh I mean Dr. Snow, Cisco and Ronnie. We began laying out the plans."
I looked at him quizzically. Who was Ronnie?
"Oh my apologies. Ronnie. He was our engineer. Why, he built the whole damn thing. Was a great worker here and was apart of the family. He's irreplaceable. Unfortunately, he died when the accelerator 'exploded' for lack of a better term. He sacrificed himself to save the rest of us. He was the one that manually shut off all engines so the blast didn't wipe out the city, and much larger the entire state. He's still greatly missed. Especially by Dr. Snow. They were just newly engaged."
In a matter of a few minutes I managed to go from scared, to awed, to dismayed, to downright sad and depressed for Dr. Snow.
"Oh no. That must've been terrible for her; for all of you really." I said taking a step forward. He simply nodded.
"He was a great guy. I just wish he survived instead."he replied as he turned and headed back to the door we came from. I quickly followed not wanting to be left behind down here.
"With regards to what happened earlier, I hope you know that it's nothing personal. I just can't take that risk. We've already put the city at risk with the explosion of the advanced particle accelerator, I can't take the risk of letting you go out untrained. Barry had to train for a while before we even let him go for a jog. We trained with him everyday for months until he was ready and he's still training to this very day. Now that we have you on our side we'll be able to strengthen our attack on villains."he explained shutting the door behind me. I simply nodded.
"That was really all I wanted to say to you. I hope you understand. We are all very close here. Just like a family really and I really hope that you find yourself comfortable enough to accept us all together. What we do is all for the greater good and I hope we can do this together." He said turning to go a different direction from the lift that brought me down.
"Uh...yeah I do." I responded but he was already gone. Now the darkness seemed to grow and the lift was taking forever. This place gave me as much creeps as Dr Wells and the damn lift wasn't coming very fast. I took out my iPod and decided to surround myself with my best friend to keep my mind off of everything around me.
I know, some people search the world
To find, something like what we have
I know, people will try, try to divide something so real
So till the end of time I'm telling there's no one
No one no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
