Hi guys!! I know. I know. I've been very inconsistent with my writing and I apologize. This first year of university really has me stressing out. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to the story as soon as my exams finish and then I'll try to get you at least 2 more chapters for New Years. Anyways, please enjoy and like. Thanks lovelies 😘😘❤️❤️
The city as usual was bustling with people constantly moving whether in cars or walking on the streets. I weaved my way through the large amounts of people making my way to the cafe where Iris worked. It was on one of the busiest streets in Central City. I had to fight my way through the crowd just to get to the door. Pushing the door, I entered the cafe and realized I loved this place already. The smell coming from the kitchen was heavenly and the atmosphere felt a lot more controlled even though there were plenty of people here. I made my way to the counter, waiting on someone behind the counter to notice me. Staring at the menu board above head I sighed in satisfaction as I saw that they had mixed berry muffins. Those were my favorite. I just couldn't choose between the berries so I'd usually have them all. There were two people behind the counter and both were backing me. The first person had short blonde shaggy hair that didn't really sit as though it was combed through this morning. Or any morning for that matter. They were kinda tall and their shoulders were broad so I assumed it was a guy and as he turned around I mentally scolded myself for even being judgement all about his hair. He looked like he was peeled out of a GQ magazine. His shaggy hair that I once thought looked terrible made perfect sense seeing his face. It was strong features and his slightly tanned skin creased at his eyes when he smiled to greet me. His eyes were freaking gorgeous!! They were this bright green that reminded me of the trees in the park during spring. They sparkled and I honestly didn't notice when he asked me something until he waved his hand in front of my face. I blinked once, twice, three times just to make sure I was awake and not dreaming. He looked at me weirdly then smiled once I showed signs of comprehension.
"Hey there, welcome to Aunt Rose's Cafe. What can I get ya?" He asked his voice vibrating out his mouth, into my earbuds and through my body. His deep voice washed over me making me forget what I was actually here for.
"Uhhhh, a mixed berry muffin and a lemonade please?" He put my order into the system and handed me my receipt after I paid the amount he indicated. He started to turn away but then turned back to face me.
"Hey, uh, you new around here?" He asked coming closer to the counter. I shook my head slightly.
"I know the area kinda, a bit has changed since I was last here." Was all I said slowly starting to walk along the counter to the pick up area.
"Hey, what's your name?" He asked following me from the other side of the counter. I looked at him. Why would he be interested in knowing my name? I smiled and turned my attention to the other worker behind the counter. She spun around with my order in her hands and squealed once she recognized me. Rushing over to me, she came from behind the counter, placing my order on it as she pulled me into a bone-crushing hug. For such a small woman she's strong.
"Angel!! I was just thinking about you! How are you?!" She rattled off putting me to sit in a booth just a few feet away from the counter. I looked back to see the cute guy from early coming over with my order Iris had left on the counter.
"Yeah, Angel, how are you?" He asked chuckling as he put down my stuff. Iris looked between me and unnamed cutie.
"Christian, get back to the counter" she stated rolling her eyes. He chuckled and bowed his head slightly towards me as he left to return to his post. So his name is Christian.
"Girl, so how was being with Barry at his job?" She asked wiggling her eyebrows. "I never got to talk to you since then. You need to fill me in." She said excitedly scooting a little closer to me in the booth. It was actually really easy just talking to Iris and so I filled her in on the wacky events of that day from the big hole to how I fell in with no one to catch me making sure I emphasized the point that NO-ONE CAUGHT ME. Although she laughed she sympathized with me before letting me know she had to get back to work. I had already eaten my muffin while telling my story so I picked up what was left of my lemonade and was making my way to the door when two things happened. The first; Christian stopped me in my efforts to leave and secondly; Barry waltzed into the cafe.
Christian had his hand wrapped around my arm in an attempt to gain my attention. I turned to face him and he smiled at me.
"Um I was wondering if maybe you would let me take you out sometime?" He asked as Barry passed behind us to get to the counter. I watched his ear twitch and that told me he had heard. I returned my gaze to Christian who was looking slightly nervous.
"Sure Christian, that'd be cool." I replied trying to keep my cool. His smile widened and his eyes disappeared behind it.
"Ok great. How about this Saturday? He asked seeming a lot more happy than before. I smiled. It was actually pretty darn cute.
"That sounds great." I replied looking over his shoulder to see Iris shaking her head at Barry then talking quickly to him before coming over to us. I nodded to her before I could give him my directions. She tapped Christian on the shoulder and told him something in his ears. He nodded in understanding and smiled to me before telling my goodbye and returning to the counter and then disappearing into the back room. I turned to Iris seeing she was looking at me with this weird look on her face.
"What did I miss over here?" She asked with a raised brow. I shook my head smiling.
"I think I just got me a date on Saturday." I said just to hear me say it for like the first time. Iris' eyes almost bugged out of her eyes.
"Christian asked you out?"
"Yeah...something wrong?" I asked starting to feel a little worried.
"No no, it's not that. It's just that Christian doesn't "ask a girl out". She said making the air quote sign. I shook my head in confusion.
"What?" I asked.
"I mean, he tells girls they're going out with him. He doesn't ask." she replied walking me to the door.
"So this is a good thing?" I asked, still unsure of where she was going with this.
"I guess so. I mean, I don't really know why the sudden change but I'd suggest you keep an eye out. Christian, isn't exactly the one girl at a time sort of guy." she said as she opened the door for me. I nodded my head and went through the door, waving behind me to tell Iris bye. I knew that if I listened to what she had said I would over think it and back out of the date. There are no deep feelings here. I'll be fine. I put the thoughts out of my head and made my way back to the lab.
