Chapter 5: This can't be Happening!
I wanted to tell Austin about what happen between me and Travis over the phone. I wanted to tell him what he said to me, but after the incident I figured I better just let it go.
"I can't believe we're both in detention again."
"Yeah well they just love us here."
"Yeah, well the teachers let off of detention alot."
"Hey I can't help it that the lady teachers love me."
I rolled my eyes and gave Austin a playful punch, he pretended like it really hurt.
"Ow, stop it, your assaulting me."
We both busted out laughing.
"Yeah it really looked like it hurt, are you sensing the sarcasm?"
"hahaha..." Austin and I arrived at the detention room and walked up to the sign up sheet. "
"...yeah, we might as well sign up while we're here.... Ha looks like your boyfriend and his other girlfriend are signed up together."
I looked down at the ground sadly.
"...Hey Morgan?" Austin said shyly.
"Yeah?"
"Why do you go out with that jerk anyway? You could do way better you know, like go out with someone who actually cares about you."
Austin looked at the ground. I always knew Austin didn't like Travis but there was something different about him. Something in his eyes it just made me so sad, his eyes were so full of emotion, sadness and anger and something else I couldn't help but notice but I couldn't tell what it was.
"I don't know why I go out with him Austin, I guess being treated like dirt is just part of my life now, it seems almost... normal."
"You deserve better, you can do better. Being in beaten and being treated like dirt shouldn't be normal!" Austin's tone was rising.
"Hey it's okay." I turned to look him in the eyes, it was like seeing me in pain made him sad.
"Morgan you know we can sign up. We can win and change things, it doesn't have to be like this."
"We can, and we will."
I picked up the pen and signed my name Austin signed his. He looked around to see if anyone was watching and then he signed my father's signature perfectly.
"Very nice."
"Thanks."
I hugged Austin.
"Time to change or lives." I smiled
Austin smiled back at me and we both went to our seats and sat down. Through out detention Austin and I just threw paper airplanes at each other. Mostly everyone else was sleeping. I looked at the clock, yes! It was finally 5 o' clock. Austin and I got up and headed out of detention. Classes were over an hour ago and everyone there was already gone, so the only people left were the people in detention.
"Hey morgan I'll walk you home." Austin ran up beside me.
"But Austin your house is in the other direction."
"I know where my house is. I'm just sating I'll walk you home."
"That's fine if you want to."
Austin smiled.
As we were coming out of the school doors you could tell it was going to rain and to make things worse. Travis was on a bench making out with Cindy again. I don't know why but when I saw that I grabbed Austin's hand. He willingly took my hand and our fingers intertwined. I starting feeling sparks again.
