A Virals Fanfic- Strike

Chapter 9

"Let 'em go." I sighed, nodding towards Ashley. "They can't help us against the government anyway."

As I suspected, this caught their attention. "Government?" Ashley questioned, freed from the ropes. I rolled my eyes.

"We didn't just catch you for fun. The government is after us Virals. They want to experiment on us." I shrugged at her disbelieving gaze, turning to Jason. "You fund yourself a nice pack." He frowned.

"It wasn't my choice. They forced the change on me." I arched an eyebrow at Maddie, guessing that she had to do something with it.

"What? I may have just given him a drop of the serum with his taco." Maddie shrugged, like it was no big deal.

"That's why it tasted weird! You do realized that you ruined tacos for me, right?" He scowled at her, unhappy.

I shook my head at them. "You do realize that you just forced Jason an entire life of being half cat?"

Ben walked up to me. "Time to go. Its nearly 4 o'clock." I nodded at him, and said a quick bye to the cats beside me before running off towards Sewee. I heard my pack running behind me, and I jumped into Sewee, getting it ready. I saw Kalona as a bird again, drifting above us.

Kit would be up at 7, so we only had three hours to get home, and the ride to Morris Island normally took thirty minutes, but since we were trying to be quiet, took about an additional hour.

Once we landed, I said a quick bye to my pack and ran off towards my house, silently getting into my room. Changing and taking a quick shower, I heard Whitney get up. Crap. As I dressed, I heard Kit wake up too. Dad was extremely busy apparently, because he didn't notice me or Coop walk by him, getting breakfast.

"Hey dad." He jumped, and I laughed. "You must be really late to something if you're this jumpy."

"Mm... Yeah." He grabbed an apple and rushed out the door. "LIRI says they found signs of a break in last night, and wanted me to check it out."

I frowned. We were caught already? I had expected them to take at least a day to two to figure it out, but I guess they updated their security.

"It has nothing to do with you and your gang, right?" I nodded absentmindedly, planning ahead on how we could get back to LIRI undetected. Whitney would obviously notice if we disappeared... "Earth to Tory? Anyone in there?" I rolled my eyes at his attempt to make a joke.

"Go, you'll be late." I shooed him out the door.

"I already am late." I heard him mutter and I frowned. Oops.
