A beautiful brown horse was drinking from the river's pure water, Evan was watching him from a closer distance while Mirai was watching the both of them.
Rose's eyes were pointed at Alex, he was deeply sleeping, all she could feel was his steady breathing, and that was all she needed.
"Do you think they won?"
Evan turned back asking him.
"I mean if they did not, their Aylin could easily kill Leo"
Mirai replied back.
She was a little bit surprised by his answer since he never called the king by his name but she did not want to tease him or point it out since they all had a very hard night, and they were glad it did come to an end.
'That Aylin, she is insanely strong, I still can't believe what she did last night'
The minute their hope did fade away as they watched Alex die Aylin had to step in, from the betweens of the shadows.
"I can save him, but it will be painful"
Aylin said.
Mirai looked at Evan who nodded agreeing since they did not have another chance.
Rose could not bare to see Aylin but she knew she could not do a single thing for her husband and if anyone could save him, no matter who, she had to let them try.
"Turn the fire on please"
Aylin said and Venator went ahead to do so.
She rushed towards Alex, kneeled down and started unwrapping the tissues around his wound.
She made sure the medicine was applied properly and added some more, once the fire was lit, she walked towards it and started heating one of her daggers.
After a good minute, she walked back towards Alex and pressed the dagger on his wound.
Alex started screaming in pain, which startled everyone.
His painful screams were hurting them in a way but knowing that he was still alive and could be saved made them bear with it.
Rose was by his side holding his hand, trying everything to ease his pain.
Once the wound closed, Aylin applied some ointment on top of the burned skin.
"Make him drink this for the fever"
Aylin said while handing a small bottle to Rose, who immediately accepted it.
Mirai rushed towards Rose and helped Alex drink the medicine.
The guards were able to put an end to the fire with the help of the other knights such as Ezra who was finally able to walk away from the scene.
He was on his way to the throne room.
'I think Asher and others are already there'
Ezra thought while his footsteps started to become faster.
A sudden heartache took over him, the closer he got to his destination.
A voice asking him to walk back, Ezra was very confused by his own feelings but he kept walking forward.
One turn right, two people on the ground, leaning their backs towards the wall.
For a moment, the world slowed down, everything else blurred out of his senses.
Ezra froze as if time stopped for him and took his breath away.
"Ivor"
A name that slipped out with a shaky voice.
Before he ran towards Ivor, leaned down, falling on his knees, his trembling hands checking for a heartbeat, a breathing, a warmth, any sign to prove him wrong.
"Ivor"
Ezra called again.
Not a single movement or response, only silence.
"Please, please Ivor, get up"
His voice got louder, more broken with each word but he did not get an answer.
The moment he knew it was too late, tears fell off his opened eyes, he was still looking at his little brother, hoping something would change but no matter what, nothing happened.
Collapsing into louder cries and screams, not being able to accept what he saw.
Echoing all the way through the hallway but not heard by a soul.
The trainees walked by Elmer's side, leaving Louis behind since he asked them to.
Elmer did not know the reason but he had enough trust to not ask and let him take his time before following them.
The throne room was empty, nothing but blood on the ground and a prince walking beside the walls, making his way towards the huge painting of Leo.
Moving it to the side, to find no one other than Edmund, sitting down trembling in fear.
Looking up to see Louis, the little prince's eyes were all tears.
"Come here"
The second prince said while giving him a hand.
Edmund reached out before jumping into Louis's arms and bursting into tears.
Kneeling down and holding him so tightly as if his whole world was right there.
"Am sorry, am sorry I left you alone Edmund, it is over now"
Louis said while Edmund's cries got louder as he could finally find relief in his brother's arms.
All eyes were pointed on him, even when a lot of the guards and maid managed to gather around, once Elmer showed up, he got all of the attention.
He had his sword in a hand, the king's crown in the other one, followed by the trainees.
His eyes met Leo's body who was on the ground.
Not too far from him, Ezra who was still holding into Ivor's body even though his tears were already dry.
His eyes widened as he walked towards the knight.
No matter how many words he wished to say, he knew that nothing would be able to ease Ezra's pain.
He turned around to see a bunch of guards and their leader keeping their distance, standing in confusion, not knowing what to do.
No one was able to keep the eye contact with him even though he was not glaring nor scary.
In a clear voice and strict tone, he finally spoke without taking his eyes of the knight.
"I need you to get the coffins for the both of them, also the advisor's body is to be buried in his village so make everything ready for Ezra to lead this mission"
Elmer said.
The knight standing beside him kneeled down immediately.
"Yes, your majesty"
He could not describe what he felt, nr how his mind suddenly switched from treating Elmer as a traitor prince to a king but he just did it, causing everyone else to kneel down and properly greet Elmer as their king.
The guards walked away following the knight, leaving some of the girls standing behind staring at their new king, still kneeling down in fear.
Elmer was about to talk to them when he heard a familiar voice calling for him.
"Prince Elmer!"
A sweet gentle female said while looking at him with teary proud eyes...
