'How was school?' My mom asked when I got home. 'Really mom? Are you serious?' I replied with a smile on my face. 'How is the job searching going?' I added while walking to our room.

'Nothing yet sweetheart' she said back. My mom has been struggling to find a job and it's hard on us. We are just lucky that my dad agreed to pay my school fees. I feel guilty that she has the pressure of providing for the both of us.

'I could get a job in Little Tokyo or McDonald's you know' I said sighing. 'No no Lynn, please don't' she said in a smooth but commanding tone. I wasn't going to listen to her, I need to help her... she is my mother.

That stupid school gave us homework so I headed straight into it. I was lucky enough that it has the same syllabus as my old school. But their Chemistry is way more complicated.

About 30 minutes later my phone rang. It was an unknown number.

'Hello?'

'Hey its Dakota'

'Oh hey! Wait how did you get my number?'

'Its a secret haha I sneaked into the school records office'

'Are you serious?'

'Ofcourse I am. The reason I called you was that I need help with the Math homework we got'

'We had Math homework? SHOOT!'

'Can you come over and help?'

'Dakota I don't...'

'(Cutting in) please'

'Okay sure... text me the deets'

I cut the call and a few moments later Dakota sent me the info of where she lived. It was pretty unusual that she called ME apart from anyone else. She doesn't even know me. But anyways

'Mom I'm heading out to help a friend with homework okay?' I said to my mom while getting an apple to munch on, on the way there. 'A boy already Kaelynn?' She replied with a smirk. 'Very funny mom.'

My mom knew that I had never had a boyfriend. I had really liked a guy named Logan but he totally screwed me over with some college whore.

'Honey are you okay?' I hadn't realized I had totally zoned out. As always. 'I hope you aren't thinking about Logan' my mom added.
'Huh no of course not' she looked at me in disbelief. 'Bye mommy' I headed out the door.

Dakota's house was just about 10 minutes from our house so I decided to walk. I still wondered why she called but hey maybe no one else knew.

A few minutes later I arrived at the apartment complex. It looked like one of those really expensive ones. Rich people type of stuff. When I walked in, it looked like a 5star hotel. So lavish with a beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling and the ceiling itself had an elegant design probably a 60s inspiration.

'May I help you?' The receptionist I guess asked. 'I'm looking for Ms Pettison's apartment' I said with a smile. She checked her computer and directed me.

I knocked on the door and straight away Dakota flew out of the door giving me a bear hug. 'Hello Dakota.' 'Hey Kaelynn' she said with a huge smile on her face. She then pulled me into their apartment. I was stunned. Completely. It was so neat and huge.

'Woah' I said. She just ignored me and said 'Meet my mom. Kaelynn this is Niikae, my mother.' I wasn't sure whether to call her by name or Ms Pettison so I just kept quiet and shook her hand. 'Nice to meet you young lady' I just shook my head and smiled

'Come on let's go to my room.' Dakota said pulling me through the corridor. 'Woah girl relax' I said almost falling. 'Sorry I'm excited.' Her smiled slowly faded into a frown. I kinda felt bad for ruining her happy mood instantly.

'You can sit on my bed if you like' she said when we entered her room. 'Sure thanks oh comfy bed' I remarked when I sat on it. Her cheeks turned red instantly which made me smile.

'What was the homework?' I asked her. 'Trigonometry' she replied me. 'Ha that's so easy' I spat out. 'That's why I asked for help from you. You're the only smart one in our Math class.'
'Oh please' I looked at her like she was mad. 'What? Its true. You're the total package for anyone' she said and walked over to her closet.

What did she just say?

'What?' I asked her very curiously. 'Nothing' she said not even looking at me. Wow Dakota... Thank you for making everything awkward.

'Let's start our work' she said coming to sit near me opening her textbook. 'Um okay then'
We sat there doing our homework for about an hour only talking when she needed help

I looked at my watch and it was 7:45pm. 'Oh my its late. My mom must be worried.' I tried to get up from the bed but Dakota grabbed my hand. 'Please don't go Kaelynn' she said sighing. 'Uh um will your mom take me home?' I asked her surprised.

This girl is really weird. And really creepy. How could she just grab me like that. I have only known her for a few hours but its like she is stalking me. Straight up creepy

'Yes she will' she said back. 'Why do you want me to stay?' I asked. 'Cause I don't ever have people coming over to our house.' She stood up and went to their living room. I followed her there. 'What do you mean? Your friends don't come?' I said. 'Kaelynn I told you that I don't have any friends' I didn't believe her obviously.
'Well sorry'

She turned on the television and put on Orange Is The New Black. I feel really poor because my mom couldn't pay for cable when we moved. So we don't have a TV which sucks. But I loved this show. It was my favorite after The Vampire Diaries.

I was on my phone when Dakota mumbled something.

'Huh what did you say' I asked her. 'Nothing' she replied. 'Please tell me' I pleaded with her.
Then she said it

'You are so beautiful. I wish you were mine.'
