CHAPTER 21

"This is gonna be interesting." I nudge Scar as we squeezed between the weeds of the small patch of grass heading the fence of the railyard. "Yeah well that's one way of wording it." She puffed as I boosted her up over the brick beam connecting the bars of the fence, and stepping back to run up it. "Do you realize what this means Ash?" She grunts catching me as I thrust my weight over the ledge. "What's on your mind?" I respond as I land lightly on the rocks below and spin around to catch her. "Well-" she gasps as I catch her mid-flight. "This mission will decide the outcome of this entire battle!"
"Well its too bad for those guys. I'm not here to lose to those bastards." We creep towards the tracks and train cars.  "Either way. This has to be done no matter the cost." I mutter, as I reach into my vest pocket and take out the shinny metal shard. "Come over here will you." I whisper over to Scar as I capture the setting sun's orange beams, and reflect them at the roof of the tall building about two blocks away. About a few seconds past and I see the same flicker of light at the roof. "Ok... Knight's knows we're in." I note as we fall in behind a train car. I slide the door open quietly and step inside,  Scarlet close behind. The darkness of the car over taking the light of the open door descends an eery feeling, so I grab Scar's waist and look into her beautiful green eyes as I lose myself in her gaze. "Baby… promise me-" My words freeze as her soft lips close onto mine sending warmth through my finger tips. Her tongue leaves my mouth as she holds me. We stand there… Each holding each other as she breaks the silence. "I love you."
"If you really love me like you say…" I grip her tighter and press my lips to her own. "Then promise me you won't get yourself killed for this mission. If it gets too hot, bail out." She stays silent as I continue. "I'll carry it out if you cannot. You mustn't die here." My hands flow through the long strands of her hair as I readjust her black beanie. Her magnificent eyes water with tears as I hold her. She buries her head in my chest as she sniffles. "I…" She sniffles. "I… Promise!"
"Good." I release her and straighten my vest. "We will be splitting up from here on out. Anything goes south, you get the hell outta here and regroup with knight." I turn to the door and step out. "See yah soon!"

                                    CHAPTER 22

The sounds of boots hitting the concrete floor alerted me of the guards that were making there rounds. "Shit gotta hide!" I exclaim in my head as I scramble to the edge of the room behind the stacked boxes. Just in time, the white uniforms of the Dpf men appear as they walk over to a wall of lockers. The four of them chatter away as they wait for one of them to open the bashed locker. "Come on I'm dying here!" One of the soldiers complain. "Yeah bro I need a quick fix." Well hold your shit! We got all day." The one turning the nob of the lock spits back at the restless men. "Ah let's get wasted!" The locker swings open and pulls out a large bottle of alcohol. "Hell yeah!!!" They all shout as the bottle pops open spewing the foam over the floor and at the same time, two of them tries catching the flowing foam with their mouths.
The red strands of my bangs swayed above my eyes as I sat there observing. Sweat formed in my palms around my rifle as I pondered what my next move would be. "Come on… Think!" The ideas flash through my head with blank outcomes and the men continue to drink. "What would Ash do?" I wiser to my self as I sit down to think.
"Hm what would I do you ask." A voice speaks from behind me with a whispered chuckle.
The hair on my neck stands on end as I scramble for my rifle, whipping it around behind me. "Ash? What are you doing here?!" I fall back on the box breathing heavily as he chuckles. He holds out an envelope to me and I open it. "Holy shit… these are the scheduled shipments!" I gasp as I read over the documents. "But how did you get them so fast? We've only been here for twenty minutes!"
"Really??? It felt like two hours to me." He checked his watch and his face pondered. "That's strange... my watch isn't moving."
"Oh you have a dead watch?" I grab his arm as I ask observing the numbers count up. "Ash take another look at it." I point at the second portion of his device.
"Scar stop playing with me, it's broken!" He jerk his hands back to his rifle and steps out from our hiding places torwards the drinking Dpf's. "Let me handle this."
"Damnit what are you do-" the silent crack of his gun repeats six times as the four men lie in there pools of blood and wine. "He slings his arm and shoulders as he turns back to me. "Sorry to ruin the atmosphere, but it's growing dark. We- to get- that mainframe." His voice almost as if it skipped like a cd, as he looked back at me with his brown eyes.
"Yes. We do." I clear my throat as I step out from behind him. "Ash check our perimeter. Their boys must have heard what happened by now." I order as I step above the only soldier alive. Wounded and laying there writhing in his own blood. "Hey fella, be a good boy and tell me where your main security office is. You don't want to have such a little defenseless girl like me to get lost do you?" I bend over to brush his chin as he looks up at me oblivious. Too far under the spell of the wine to understand how serious his condition really was.
"Oh no my dear!" He points out the door where they returned from. "It's just down to-" He coughs of his blood and continues with his lifeless voice. "Down to the very end… On your right." And again he coughs up the red. He reaches his hand to a tag on his chest and grabs it. "You'll need this to get in. It's restricted to those not in my branch. Talk to sarge... I don't know if you're allowed." Reaching for me, his eyes dull. "Pass my drink will yah." Ash drags the dying man to the wall to rest upward handing him the wine. "Thanks lad." With his shaky hand, he sips from the shot glass. At the painful swallow of his throat, his hands fall limp and his body slumps over his left. He was dead.
"What a strange way to go." Ash brushes the blood from his gloves, and snatches a key card from the soldier's uniform. "Alright! Lets get to work."

CHAPTER 23

With the flex his broad shoulders, Ashton swayed the door into the long hallway that the soldiers had come from. "The farthest to our right…" He pointed down to the window at the end, revealing the massive lights that lit the whole complex during the night. "Take point Grace." He chuckles as he sways the barrel of his weapon in waves.
"Really… what's with you and my middle name?" I remark as we progress down the dim, musty corridor. "Well in that case, how about I call you by yours too… Lee." His ears twitch and he stops dead in his tracks.
"You hear that?" He points to the massive window at the end of the corridor. He continues walking in a hastened pace torwards the end.
"What is that?.." I question as we peer down to the compound below. The massive lights tear through the shadows
