"Great Deku Tree, I'm back!" Navi yells.

"Oh, Navi, thou hast returned!" The Great Deku Tree says.

"I am here Deku Tree" I say, making sure my presence is known.

"Link, welcome! Listen carefully to what I, the Deku Tree, am about to tell thee..."

"Of course Deku Tree!"

"Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless and full of nightmares. As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it. Verily, thou hast felt it."

The Deku Tree was right, I've been having the same recurring nightmare over and over again. The strange field, the castle, the princess, the evil man...

"Link...the time has come to test thy courage...I have been cursed, I need thee to break the curse with thy wisdom, and courage."

Who would curse the Deku Tree!? He's just an innocent guardian of a forest!

"Dost thou have courage enough to undertake this task?" The Deku Tree asks me.

"Of course Deku Tree, I would do anything for you!" I say.

"Then enter brave Link, and thou too, Navi. You must aid Link! When Navi speaks Link, listen well to her words of wisdom!"

As he says this, his mouth opens, we have to go in, and stop whatever is cursing the Deku Tree.

INSIDE THE DEKU TREE

As we run inside the Deku Tree, it is very clear something is wrong. There are webs all over the place, Skulltulas run rampant. Navi and I scan the area.

"Who would do such a thing to the Deku Tree?" I ask.

"It's hard to say really. This is the first time this has really happened." Navi tells me.

Navi starts flying towards the vines.

"Link, climb up here! There is a chest up here!"

I climb up the vines, and run over to the chest, and decide to open it. I pull out a slingshot.

"What do I need a slingshot for?" I ask, but I get no response.

Navi and I go back down the main area of the tree and realize there is a web covering a hole in the ground.

"I think we have to go down there." Navi says.

Thankfully I remembered I picked up some Deku Sticks, I walk over to a nearby torch, set the tip of of the stick on fire, and set the web ablaze.

There are no vines, so we have to jump down.

"What happened to the lights?" I ask.

We landed in a dark room, when suddenly, I hear a very creepy sound of something crawling around the room. I decide to look around the room.

"Navi, what is that sou-"

BANG! Suddenly the giant creature lands in front of me.

"Link! That is the parasitic arachnid Gohma!"

I start running around the room, I've never been more terrified in my life, than right now!

"Navi, do you have any tips on killing this thing!" I yell, as I dodge an incoming attack from it's tail.

"Hang on...the eye! Use your slingshot on the eye Link!" Navi yells.

I take a deep breath, pull out a slingshot, pickup a nearby rock and aim for the eye, and shoot.

It connects! The arachnid queen is stunned! I pull out my sword and stab it in the eye. As I pull the sword out from her eye, Gohma screams as she collapses to the ground, she burns up in a blue fire, as a portal is formed.

"We must have stopped the curse!" I yell

"We did it Link! We saved the Deku Tree!" Navi yells as well.

We both run for the portal, excited to see the Deku Tree, and we get lifted up towards the sky. We arrive back in front of the Deku Tree.

"Well done Link!" The Deku Tree says in approval.

"Thou hast verily demonstrated thy courage. I knew that thou wouldst be able to carry out my wishes!"

"Thank you Deku Tree, like I said I would do anything for you!"

"Now I have yet more to tell thee, wouldst though listen?"

This was a story time, that I was actually looking forward to.

"Of course." I respond.

"Listen carefully...A wicked man of the desert cast this dreadful curse upon me. This evil man ceaselessly uses his vile, sorcerous powers in his search for the Sacred Realm, that is connected to Hyrule, for it is in that Sacred Realm that one will find the divine relic, the Triforce, which contains the essence of the gods."

The Deku Tree brought up my nightmares earlier, was this that evil man that appeared in my dreams?

"Before time began, before spirits and life existed. Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule. Din, the goddess of power, Nayru, the goddess of wisdom, and Farore, the goddess of courage. Din...with her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth. Nayru...poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world. Farore...with her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law."

"The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens. Golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddesses left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis of our world's providence. The resting place of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm. Thou must never allow the desert man in black armor to lay his hands on the sacred Triforce. Thou must never suffer that man with his evil heart to enter the Sacred Realm of legend. That evil man who cast the death curse upon me and sapped my power. Because of that curse, my end is nigh..."

"Wait, this can't be we stopped the curse! We cured you!" I say, almost in tears.

"Though your valiant efforts to break the curse were successful, I was doomed before you even started."

"You can't die Deku Tree! This can't be, we need you!"

"Yes, I will pass away soon, but do not grieve for me. I have been able to tell you of these important matters, this is Hyrule's final hope! Link...go now to Hyrule Castle, there thou will surely meet the princess of destiny! Take this stone that man wanted so much that he cast the curse upon me."

Suddenly there is a flash of green, a green emerald appears before me.

"Link, that is the Kokiri's Emerald, the Spiritual Stone of the Forest!" Navi explains to me.

"The future depends upon thee Link, thou art courageous. If you are ever in need of advice look for the Shiekah Stones, they will guide the way. Navi, help Link to carry out my will...I entreat thee...Navi...good...bye."

As the Great Deku Tree speaks his final words, his wood turns from a brown, to an almost dark grey color, and his leaves start to gracefully fall through the air.

I'm in shock, I can't believe what I'm seeing, even though we did everything right, the Deku Tree is dead.

"Let's go to Hyrule Castle, Link!"

We start to walk away, but Navi stops and looks back.

"Good-bye, Great Deku Tree!"
