"Bye, Daddy!" Haley said, then jumped into my arms. I kissed the top of her head and held her tightly.

"Bye, Princess. I love you." I kissed her head once more before setting her down, and Landon instantly took her place.

"Bye, Dad!" He stated. I ruffled his hair and then kissed his tousled hair.

"Bye, Bud. I love you," I smiled sadly. After setting him down, Nicole gave me a quick hug and then pecked my lips.

"Bye, Lou. Please be safe. Good luck," she whispered, tears glistening in her eyes. "I love you."

"I love you, too, babe. I'll be back before you know it." I kissed her lips slowly and passionately, hoping these three people would keep me going through what was just the start of a long process. "Bye guys."

"Bye!" They all said in unison and I walked out the door.

"Alright, Mr. Tomlinson. So, non-small cell lung cancer, correct? Adenocarcinoma to be specific?" The doctor asked as I took a seat on the exam table.

"Right," I said quietly.

"Now, this cancer is in the outer area of your lungs. It is quite a rare cancer, especially for someone so young like yourself. Luckily, we caught the cancer early, Stage 1. It hasn't spread to the lymph system, yet. It is treatable, but there are few treatment options. The one I would recommend for you would happen before surgery. We would give you a few drugs to take every day for a few weeks to weaken the cancerous cells, then perform surgery," the doctor explained.

"Alright," I agreed.

"Now, there are some side effects such as-"

"I don't care about the side effects. I just want to be healthy again," I interrupted, then noticed how rude I was being. "Sorry, sir."

"It's quite alright Mr. Tomlinson. Don't feel badly. You just found out you have cancer. I can't expect you to be Mr. Happy-go-lucky at a time like this. It's okay to be upset. And in all honesty, it's best you take your anger out on my rather than your family. They need you, Louis. Don't take it out on them," the doctor warned.

"I know, sir, and I'm sorry for getting angry with you before," I apologized again. I was quite embarrassed at my action even though the doctor pardoned them.

"Like I said before, it's absolutely fine. Don't worry about it, Louis. Now, back to treatment. I'm going to prescribe you two drugs, Cisplatin and Carboplatin. Take these both every morning when you get up for the next three weeks," the doctor instructed while scribbling on a small piece of paper.

"Side effects include hair loss, mouth sores, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Experiencing these symptoms is totally normal. However, if anything else out of the ordinary occurs, come here straight away, alright?" the doctor said.

"Alright," I agreed. He scribbled on the paper a bit more before tearing it off of the pad of paper and handing it to me.

"Take this to the pharmacy on 6th street. They'll give you the drugs. And on your way out, set up another appointment for next week sometime so we can see how the chemo is working, okay?"

"Sounds good. Thanks doctor," I smiled weakly.

"Good luck, Mr. Tomlinson."
