I nod and she leads me into he building.
"Are you visiting someone?" she asks once we go inside. There's a stairwell that swirls up. I follow it with my eyes and notice the many levels. theres a lot of people in uniforms walking everywhere. Which I assume are workers.
"Yeah I am." I look over toward her and she's walking behind the front desk.
"Well you're in luck visiting hours haven't closed yet." She smiles almost too nicely at me and brings out a book from behind the desk.
"Who will it be?" she opens up the book and I watch the dust float off and she flips through the pages waiting for my answer.
"Jack Merridew." I watch as her smile drops, and she looks at me as if waiting for me to say I'm joking.
"Ar-are you sure?" I nod and she closes the book.
"Come with me," she whispers just so I could hear. We walk up the spiral staircase to the second floor we walk through hallways, these ones are empty. we stop and she takes in a deep breath before opening a large metal door. The first thing you hear is screaming. Lots and lots of screaming and crying. But it's not coming from the hall I'm in, it's coming from the door at the end of the hallway.
"Why is he in here?" she looks at me with sadness laced over her face.
"He hasn't fully recovered from the incident two years ago. At least he's not on the fourth floor still." The fourth floor must not be bad. She brings me into a room full of tables and chairs. More like a lounge room.
"Please just sit anywhere. He will be here soon." I nod and smile at her. I sit at a table in the corner. I knew he was going to be in an institute, but I never thought it would be as bad as this. This place looks horrible inside and out. the table i'm sitting at is full of dust, all the tables are, and chairs. I don't think anyone would want to be here. I'm starting to feel as if it's as bad as the island, but the difference was the island was more beautiful. This just seems dangerous health wise. I can smell the sweat and horrible things that probably happen in here. I can hear the ear piercing screams of the crazy, demented patients put in this place. And it's hard but easy to believe that Jack ended up in here.
*Flashback*
"We need the signal fire!" I yell to everyone.
"Where is the signal fire!" Everyone just stares, not knowing what to say about the signal fire.
"Jack!" I stomp up to him and he's laughing while trying to get his hunters pumped up.
"Why did you let it go out?" I ask him. His laughing stops and he turns to me.
"What are you talking about?"
