Chapter 12

FOUR MONTHS LATER

Chino and I talked and I decided that I wanted nothing else to do with him. I had been trying to avoid him but you know how that went. Me, Akeelah, and Vonna are back on good terms. They actually want me to give Chino another chance but I'm not ready to deal with his extra drama. Taylor and Kevin are actually dating now. They're trying to work their way back into my life but I'm not feeling it. Since everything happened, nobody has seen India. The last we heard, she was somewhere pregnant. My mom quit one of her jobs to spend more with me.

Other than Chino having different females every other day nothing has changed. I noticed he spends a lot more time with one girl more than the others. She's pretty but doesn't look better than me. I don't see how he can be with so many females but follow me around everywhere. Honestly I miss what we almost had. I thought we could've made it work. I went to work like I usually do. And yes your girl got promoted to a manager. I worked for the position. Vonna did NOT just give it to me. I was locked up the store and waited for my mama to pick me up. I'm saving up to get me a car. I told my mother not to buy one since she already works so hard to spoil me. I got home and Akeelah was already at my house, in my room with her pajamas on. We ate, watched tv, and laughed. I got up to take a shower. She asked me,"When are you gonna wear that lingerie we git from Victoria's Secret?" I poked my head out of the door. "I don't know." She rolled her eyes. I went back in the bathroom and heard her clear her throat. "Well you know you should find you a boyfriend since it's our senior year in school." I turned on the water and acted like I didn't hear her. I never really entertain guys but it is my senior year. Maybe I should get one. I let the water run over me and scrubbed my body as I thought about what it would be like to have a boyfriend. Who could I even see myself with? There was nobody that i really but Chino and you see how that went. I dried off and put on some pajamas. Kee was on her phone texting away. I jumped on the bed next to her. "So I was thinking that we should got to the mall tomorrow after school since I'm off. To find me a boyfriend, you know." She looked at me and grinned. "I knew you would say that. I get to pick him." I rolled my eyes at her. "I guess. Go to sleep trick." "Good Night sissy."

NEXT DAY AFTER SCHOOL

We walked through the mall and shopped a little bit. There were a few cuties her and there but none were single. We sat in the food court eating subway, talking about our failed mission.I was low key happy because deep down I really didn't want a boyfriend. We finished eating and went into foot locker to buy some shoes to match with my outfit. I found Blue and green Diamond Turf 2's. Someone slapped their credit card on the counter. "I got it baby girl.", sais a familiar voice. "I can pay for it my damn self." Kee spoke to him. He wrapped his arms around my waist. "Don't act like that bae." I politely removed his hands from my waist and pushed him off of me. "I said I can pay for it Chino." The cashier looked confused. He picked up the card and handed it to the cashier. If looks could kill... I didn't have time to say anything to him. He walked out and walked in another store with the girl I see him with so often. "Girl you and Chino need to stop with these games." I looked at her like 'bitch what'? "That's Chino playing games with his hoe ass.", I said with an attitude. "You know you miss him so stop fronting. Y'all need to stop playin with each other and work it out." I rolled my eyes as hard as I could. I walked into Victoria's Secret to shop for underwear and bras. As soon as we walked in Akeelah had something to say. "If this stuff didn't look so good on me, I wouldn't pay for this high ass stuff. I'm not trippin cus it's not my own money being spent. Girl need you a man to buy you all this." I laughed and continued to look around. I went in one of the drawers on the wall and found some white lace panties with a matching bra that fastens in the front. I picked a few more matching sets and went to find some perfume. I went to the register to pay for my stuff. I looked around for Kee but she was outside the store. TALKING TO CHINO! I tried to wait a few minutes hoping he would go away. Chino's girlfriend or whatever saw me staring. Then she said,"Some of these hoes will never learn. They need to tend to their own man instead of mine cus it won't do them any good." I turned to this skinny, bobblehead, pimple-country bitch and raised my eyebrow. "First of all the only hoe around here is you because you obviously ain't his girl considering that he just spent $150 on my shoes while he was here with you today. Second, that's my best friend that I refuse to let any bitch disrespect. Third, she has her own man to tend to. That's like her big brother. If he was really your man you would know that. Idiodic bitch!" And I walked out before the dumb bitch could muster up a response. I snatched Kee by her arm. I looked Chino dead in the eye. "Lets go before I make Chino mad cus I gave his bitch the the bizness." With that being said we left. When we got to her house, I explained what happened. Akeelah responded with," Chino is only with her to make you jealous. He doesn't care about anybody but you. A blind man could see that. As for that bitch, fuck her. Let her be mad. I just know that even though people make mistakes, you give second chances. Whether you care to admit it or not, y'all have undeniable feelings for one another." "Well when did you get so wise?" She giggled. "Girl it's just some stuff that we're getting too old for." "You right boo." So I sent Chino a text message.
