The Knights of Spring

chapter 2

Emily was bored. She spent most of her days indoors on her laptop skyping with lex. She'd occasionally make an appearance out of her bedroom usually to the kitchen or for a bathroom break. It was about midday when her mother knocked on her door. she popped her head around and said "em i'm going out with Hannah to get your textbooks for next term. go walk piper and explore the town i left some money of the counter" Emily was reluctant when she got up. moving her to a new amidst of strangers put her in a down mood. She was about to throw on a hoodie when she remembered something, Elliot. She opened her door and screamed out "mum are you taking Elliot" "yes love" she replied "i know how much you love him". Emily rolled her eyes. its not that she had anything against Elliot but found him annoying? She left home with piper excited on a leash. 

piper run around crazy following every single direction her nose let her. Emily sighed at her. even in such as situation like this, piper would always make her feel better. Emily didn't know the town so she decided to let Piper take her where ever her nose wanted. She put in her earphones and phoned up lex.

"EEMMMMM HOW ARE YOU?"
"well i'm glad to see at least on of us is happy"
" you're such a party pooper you know that right?"
"you would be too if were in my situation and you know it"
"fine sad face, what are you doing right how?"
"i don't know i'm following piper's nose around town". Emily had traveled quite a far distance. Piper had seemed to be a determined route to an unknown location. She began to pick up speed and suddenly pulled Emily forward. 
"lex i have to go now, pipers running"
"emmm noo, call soon" Emily ended the phone call and went full sprint following her crazed dog. They were running along a highway then turned suddenly into forest. Piper stopped and stood still for a while. She sniffed the ground in different directions trying to grab a scent. She was travelling back towards the road when something else caught her nose, a new trail.

 She traveled all over the place with this one. They had been travelling in a jagged line passing the same places several times. "piper do you know where you're going" piper looked back at Emily and whined. "fine, fine. sorry for disturbing you" piper looked back onto the path ahead of her and pointed her nose to the ground again. Her ears suddenly spiked up and she was running again. They ran for a few minutes until they came to a clearing in the middle of the forest. Both stopped in their tracks to stare at what they had found for a while. it was tree house on the ground. Parts of the wall had been pulled off and thrown around it. There was a campfire surrounded by some seats which looked be old car seats and a lawn chair. Emily walked over to the mail box and jokingly lifted up the red flag. Piper followed her nose to around the campfire sniffing chicken bones on the ground. Emily pulled her away from the bones.

When Emily got home she went to Hannah's room. "hey Hannah, for ruining my life and making me move towns i have a way that you might be able to earn my forgiveness" This was the first Emily had spoken directly to Hannah in two months

"shoot, i'm listening"
"ok, well i found a tree house on the ground today with piper." Emily stopped talking. Hannah was confused.
"and....." Hannah tired to continue for her
"you're going to help me rebuild it"
