~First Person POV~
For the first time, I decided to bring Gabriel and some of the alternates to the cafe restaurant I work at. It was a little hard putting Six, N, and Preacher in a human disguise, especially with N and Preacher. Me and Gabriel managed to put N in a long trench coat and Preacher in a nice big hoodie. They both look pretty goofy and silly but it would at least do the trick.
But even through the relief about this, I was still a little nervous on how people in the restaurant would probably stare at them. Coming from a perspective, they did not really look more human than anything. They were just creatures, outside and inside and changing them to be like people I know seemed impossible.
Right now, things were a little more dire with this plan. Hunter, who was the best manager ever, decided to resign from his job to go back to his home state to care for his family that he hadn't seen in so long. I did miss him since he did act like some sort of parent to me and the other workers. The restaurant was taken over by a man that was more strict, stern, and possibly less caring than Hunter. All he really cared about is the cafe's reputation of being one of the best restaurants in all of Mandela County, but it was not helping that he decided to treat us more like workers than actual human beings. Still, I hoped for the best and crossed my fingers for nothing to go south with my disguised Alternate people. Or uh so I thought...
As they went inside the restaurant, much to my happiness, and began to pick their orders, a few of the other workers, including Jenny and Colette, looked at them weirdly. "Who are they? They look so..unique...?" Jenny asked with a tilted head, looking at me. I gulped in response and smiled awkwardly.
"Oh nothin', Jenny. Just the uh..usual customers you see? I mean we did give an order to a man that looked like he had a tail. Did not make him a dog or a cat or a horse!" I tried making up excuses, causing Jenny to look more confused, but she shrugged it off.
"Well whatever you say, (Y/N)." Jenny replied as she went to the rest of the workers and told them to get the orders ready for their customers. I giggled so nervously as I fidgeted with a strand of my long hair and went to Gabriel and the rest of the alternates that were now sitting at a random table together.
"Glad you guys could come." I said to them with a genuine smile of happiness. They all smiled back.
"It's the least we could do to our favorite human!" N said to me.
Gabriel put a hand on mine and gently rubbed my skin with his thumb. "Just as long as...we behave. Isn't that right, everyone?" He said, glaring at the alternates with the eyes of a strict parent, making them freeze up and cower slightly.
"Yes, of course, your Majesty-" Six suddenly got hit in the arm by Preacher, who eyed at him not to call him that in public. "Uh, I mean, Gabriel." He said, chuckling awkwardly.
I sighed in both relief and nervousness. I patted Gabriel's hand with my other one and soon enough, I saw Colette waving at me to give the finished orders to impatient customers.
