I didn't meet up with my sister, Erin until breakfast the next morning. Of course she made a scene that caused half of dauntless to stare.
"Jasmine?! Holy crap it is you!" She shouted, running towards me.
I got up from the table and happily threw myself at her, holding her in a tight hug. When we finally pulled back from each other, tears threatened to fall from both our eyes as we examined each other's appearance.
"Look at how much you've grown, you're so beautiful!" She exclaimed, holding onto my shoukders.
"And look at you! You cut your hair, and what about these tattoos?!" I said.
She sat down at the table with me, keeping my hand in hers as we talked.
"How's dad?" She asked.
"He's great, he sends his love. And Katelyn too, she misses you."
"Aww I miss you guys. I'm so glad you came to Dauntless. I heard you were the first jumper?!"
"Yeah, I kind of just asserted myself and went for it."
"Well I was the first jumper too, you know." She said proudly.
Jackie and Keith just sat there watching, and I finally introduced them.
"Guys, this is my older sister, Erin."
"Hi" they both said.
"You two definitely don't look alike. Except for your eyes." Jackie noted.
"Well Jasmine here was gifted with our mother's wonderful features. The Sandy blonde hair, blue eyes and beautiful tan skin. I just got her eyes. My brown hair comes from our dad." Erin said.
"I like your hair short, it fits you." I told her.
"Really? It took me a while to get used to it. But it definitely saves on shampoo."
We both laughed and I leaned my head on her shoulder.
"What's all the commotion over here?" Eric's looming figure appeared before us.
I immediately stiffened up, but Erin seemed unphased by his presence. His eyes looked curious now, almost friendly as he watched the two of us together.
"Oh Eric, this is my baby sister Jasmine. Have you two met yet?" She asked.
"Yes we did, she was my first jumper yesterday." He said flatly.
"So I heard. I'm sure she'll do great today in training, it's in our genes." She told him.
"I sure hope so." Was all he said.
His eyes never left mine as they talked, and I felt a little vulnerable under his gaze.
"I'm so glad we're together again, you've gotten so beautiful." Erin told me, pushing some hair away from my face.
I blushed slightly knowing that Eric was still here watching us. I hated when my sister fussed over me like that. I didn't want him thinking I was just a bouncy young girl trying to reunite with my sister. I knew I had to prove myself during training. I wanted to be Dauntless so bad, I knew I had to do good. Especially if I wanted to make a good impression.
Once Eric finally walked away, I gave my sister a confused look.
"Are you guys friends or sonething? Because all I hear about that guy is that he's a ruthless, cold-hearted drill Sargeant who gets his kicks from other's pain."
"Eric and I aren't exactly friends, but we're not enemies either. We were in the same class a couple years ago. Just make sure to stay out of his way and keep your mouth shut. You don't want to get on his bad side." She told me.
