"We're all going to get a bite to eat and hang out, are you coming?" Drew asked. "Yeah, just let me go get a jacket from the bus." I answered. "Ok, cool." Drew answered. I ran into the tour bus, trying to be quick. I grabbed my letterman's jacket from my bunk and before turning and running out of the bus I saw Isabel out of the corner of my eye. She was sitting on the couch in the back and her head was buried in her hands. I wanted to be able to ignore her and walk away but I couldn't. Instead I walked over to her and stood next to her. "What's wrong Isabel?" I asked. She jumped but tried to play it off. "Levi, I-I didn't realize you were here." She said with a sniffle. There were streaks of mascara running down her face and her eyes were red and puffy. "What happened?" I asked. "Look Levi, I know you probably don't care about me right now. I also know that everyone's waiting outside for you. If you leave it's fine, no hard feelings or anything." She said. I could tell she was exhausted, emotionally and physically. I sighed and sat down next to her. "Izzy, I know we broke up but that doesn't mean I hate you or anything. Of course I still care about you and if something's wrong I want to help you." I put my hand on her knee for comfort. "Thanks Levi." She said, starting to cry. Seeing her cry broke my heart a little bit. It was quiet for a minute until she was ready to talk. "My, uh, my grandpa died." Her voice cracked as the tears streamed down harder. My own eyes started to water. "Izzy, I-I'm so sorry. He was a great man." She nodded and wiped the mascara from under her eyes. "Come here." I said gently, scooting closer to her and pulling her into my arms. She shut her eyes tightly and cried into my chest. After a couple minutes she let go and pulled back. "I'm sorry Levi, I got your shirt all dirty." She sniffled. "Oh shut up." I said in a broken playful kind of way. I pulled her back in and she hugged me as tightly as she could. My arms were wrapped around her as if they could protect her from the pain. She'd calmed down a little but was still laying in my arms when Drew came into the bus. When he saw me I just shook my head. He nodded, understanding, and left. "When did you find out?" I asked. "My mom called me after I got off stage. That's why I didn't stay for your performance." She said. "You did really well tonight, just by the way. I bet he's so proud of you." I told her honestly. She shut her eyes and swallowed hard. "Thanks. I just wish I could've said goodbye. You know?" She sobbed. I rubbed her back as she cried, trying to figure out what to say. "I know, it's not fair. But he'll always be there, watching over you." I tried to comfort her. "He's the reason I started singing, you know. When I was little he bought me a guitar because I loved to sing around the house and pretend I could play instruments. He helped me write my first song and he was there in the front row of all the shows in my first tour. Now he-he's gone." I felt my heart break for her although I tried to keep myself together for her. I hate seeing people sad or in pain, which is why I'm usually bad at comforting people. For a few minutes it was quiet as I ran her hair through my fingers. She always said it was relaxing when I played with her hair. "I know nothing I say right now can take away the pain of loosing your grandpa, but just know that I will always, ALWAYS, be there for you." I Insured her. "Thank you, Levi. That means a lot." She sniffled. She slowly started to stop crying and relax. Her legs were drawn to her chest and her head was against my chest, my arms still around her. Her previously tense shoulders loosened up as she started to drift off to sleep. I continued to play with her hair and look to see if she'd fallen asleep. "You're really an amazing guy, Levi." She whispered, her eyes closing. "You're an amazing girl." I whispered back, giving her a light kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight." I whispered. I watched her fall asleep and sighed with relief.
