"Well, Mrs. Graham, happy?"
"Ecstatic!"
'There's his five million dollar smile.' She thought again.
"Oh boy! I'm in trouble!" François said with a smile.
"How could you be?" Mrs. Graham said hugging him tighter.
"I can't improve on ecstatic! I have nowhere to go but down in your happiness status."
They laughed in unison.
It was their first wedding anniversary, they were celebrating it in none other than, China Express. Sitting at 'their' table.
"Do you remember the days when I sat way over there by the back wall and you sat way over there by the window?" He was pointing to those two separate and distant lands.
"Hardly." She lied with a smile because she did remember.
"Remember how lonely we felt?"
"I was terribly lonely." She admitted.
"Remember how I said that the universe brought us together?"
"Yes."
"Well, I was wrong. It was Tristan Jones." He said with dry humor.
"Do we have to call Tristan the universe now?" Matching his dry humor.
Then they burst into laughter so loud that it got Tristan's attention, he heard his name. "Are you calling me?"
"Yes, Matchmaker, we want to thank you for getting us together. It's our first wedding anniversary today. We are in your debt."
"Hey, just name your first boy after me." Tristan said, patting them each on the back then walking away to deal with some other problem that restauranteurs continually have.
"How's Tristan Denzil Allen Graham feeling tonight?"
"He's very happy too."
François patted her swollen belly lovingly.
"Are you sure François, really sure?"
"Sure about what? That I love you? Of course I'm sure." He knew what she was talking about but wanted to trouble her a little.
"Stop it! You know what I mean. About the baby's name?" She looked down at her growing baby, lovingly putting her two hands on him.
"Very sure! If it wasn't for Tristan we would not be together. If it wasn't for Denzil we would not be together. What better way to honour the memory of a magnificent, selfless man then to name your baby after him."
She was so touched, water pooling in her lower eyelids threatened to overflow with tears of joy, gratitude and love.
"You are magnificent and selfless too." She could hardly get it out without choking up.
François was more for justice than he was selfless. Although Lowdian would spend a lifetime arguing with him about that.
Then to lighten the mood François shrugged his shoulders, "Hey, only nine more children to go!"
"Very funny. Can I get through this one before we talk about anymore? I swear if men went through one delivery, just one, they would never ask for more babies from their wives.....ever!" Then she caught what he meant. When they met he said they were to have ten children. "Who said that I agreed to have ten children anyway?"
"Ummm.......I did."
They laughed together.
What a great pair they were.
Mrs. Graham got very serious after that taking her husband's hand, "On this our first anniversary together I have to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and my story. If it wasn't for you I would never have found out the truth about Denzil. That was so important to me. It was necessary in order for me to move forward in my life. It is such a wonderful feeling to be truly understood and believed by someone."
She stopped, putting her hand on her chest, swallowing hard, to get control of her emotions again. It was so much more difficult these days, now that she was pregnant with raging hormones.
"Life is so much better sharing it with someone you love." She said profoundly. Leaning over, kissed François tenderly.
Mrs. Graham's husband took both her hands in his,
"Thank you my darling. You are a treasure. I am grateful to know you. You are a dream come true. As our friend in common, Thoreau said, 'Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.' Truth brings closure, freedom, happiness."
Lowdian had to continue giving people the cure for the diseases that had been forced on the human race. François could not stand the fact that she would be the least bit vulnerable. So he created a software along with a business model that she could use to distribute the product to people in need without it being traced or tracked back to her.
François quit his other careers to help Lowdian in her business of making the world healthy. He wanted to spend all his time with her and their children.
He could see no better way than for them to work together at this very noble, very worthy cause.
Lowdian wanted to continue what Denzil had started. She felt passionate about it too. She wanted to keep his memory alive.
When Tristan Denzil Allen Graham came screaming into the world grabbing onto his mother's baby finger wailing for dear life, she knew that he would carry on their legacy until all the world was disease free. That was a tall order, but for the way that this eight-pound-six-ounce little man was wailing she knew that he would shout so loud, so determined, until all of this goal was accomplished.
For François, he was content seeing his baby boy with ten fingers and ten toes, and seeing his lovely Lowdian glowing with motherly pride and love.
