Author's note: Just so you know, there are a few things said in this chapter that could be interpreted as homophobic- they aren't. Rhynn is just maintaining that she hasn't met anyone, and while she does say that she's totally straight (she isn't being totally truthful) she's just trying to avoid any questions relating to anyone she may or may not have met. Thanks for reading!

They met up again the next day, and the day after that and the day after that. Eventually someone would have had to caught on, but neither of them had expected someone to catch on so soon.

About five days after Brett and Rhynn first met, Rhynn's friends Casey and Thomas couldn't help but notice that Rhynn sort of... Disappeared after school, so they decided to ask her about it.

"Hey, Rhynn!" Casey called after her, catching up to her after their Biology class.

Rhynn did a little spin on one foot, her head belatedly following her body. "Yeah?"

"What's up with you lately, man?" Thomas asked. "You're never at home... Or anywhere for that matter after school."

"Oh, uh... I've, um..."

"Oh. My. God. You met someone, didn't you? Omigod, you did!!!"

"No, I didn't."

"Dude. You totally did." Thomas shook his head. "I'm disappointed in you, Rhynn. I thought we were waiting for each other!" He dramatically draped himself over her in a "hug".

Rhynn made a face of mild disgust, lightly shoving the boy off of her. "Shut up, I haven't met anyone. At all."

"Oh yeah? Then how come your mom doesn't ever know where you are?"

"Because I never tell my mom squat. You know that."

"You know, we won't judge."

"Oh my God, stop talking. Even if I had met someone, which I haven't, where would I have met said person? I never go anywhere!"

"Weeeeeeeeeeeell... Didn't you say you'd found that one hill in the woods?"

"Yeah, so?"

"So, knowing you, you probably equipped it with a bookshelf or something in case you got kicked out of the house. Therefore, in theory, there could be a person in the town opposite that has the same afflictions as you and maybe you two met at this hill thingy or whatever."

Rhynn rolled her eyes. "You're insane."

"You met a girl, didn't you? That's why you won't tell us."

"NO! Dude, I am one hundred percent straight."

"Uh huh. What about Lia Turner in fifth grade?"

"I was eleven! Everyone experiments at that age!"

"No... They actually don't."

"Piss off."

"So you did meet a girl!"

"I did no such thing! If I met anyone, and I'm not saying I did, it was a guy, okay? Now will you leave me alone? God." Rhynn turned on her heel and stormed off.

"Geez, what's her deal?" Casey grumbled, watching her friend stomp away.

"I have no idea." Thomas shrugged, frowning at Rhynn's back.

"Are we really here that much?" Rhynn asked Brett later, after telling him what had happened.

He shrugged from his perch in the tree. "I don't think we are, but we do kind of lose track of time out here."

"I guess." She laid back on the hill, then laughed. "I still don't know your name."
