Under the clear blue sky and the very quiet atmosphere that fell upon Kardia's marketplace.
As if they have been waiting for the news to come and knock on their doors since none of them dared to go back to the palace after Leo's threat.
Going on about their day, with a blue lit fire inside their heart set on by a royal prince who opened their eyes and showed them hope.
Hearing the horses hooves rushing towards the marketplace, they gathered around knowing very well that the big announcement they have been waiting for was finally there, right in front of them.
The guard, jumped off his horse, followed by the rest of his team members.
"Dear the citizens of Lydia"
He proceeded saying.
"Prince Elmer Kalos the first will be announced king after six days from now upon the tragic death of the previous king Leo-"
Right before he got to finish the crowd went wild.
Everyone was celebrating their victory, tears of joy, smiles on those tired faces and some hugs shred by the close ones embracing their freedom.
"The prince asks you to write your concerns and leave them in the knights stations that will be built in each and every village, for those who can not write you have the right to ask any worker at the station to write down your concerns. Your voices will make a better Lydia"
The immediate beginning of the change made their hearts feel the peace they have forever longed for, the crowds cheered in some unexpected words, as Elmer was still a prince.
"LONG LIVE KING ELMER! LONG LIVE KING ELMER!"
They have assigned some workers from the palace to start building the very first knight station in Kardia.
And as the hours went by, each village in every Lydian city heard the same announcement as the building of their station started right after.
"I am jealous that Venator picked the right side, yet again"
Alex said while still resting his head on Rose's lap, walking did not seem to be possible yet for him.
As Mirai came back after wandering around the marketplace, he let them know of the news.
"Well at least we're alive"
Evan, rushed towards the three and she looked a little worried.
"They are coming for us"
She said.
"Who?"
Mirai asked, while she rushed to help Alex get up.
"The guards"
She replied.
Mirai stepped forwards while the ladies were helping Alex stand up, they did not think they could go far enough no matter how hard they try to, and therefore their leader had to fight.
The guards arrived.
One of them walked closer, leaving his horse behind.
"We are not here to fight"
He said walking towards Mirai who was ready just in case.
"His majesty wants to see you"
The guard said.
He then looked back, and two other guards walked forwards with a carriage, asking the four to get in.
Mirai looked back not knowing what choice to make, as if he was asking the three of what to do.
"You are free to refuse"
The guard then added.
Even though Elmer wanted to see them, he did not want to force them to come to him.
"We will come with you"
Those unexpected came out of Evan's mouth. As the three hunters were shocked, they knew that there was no running away.
They spent their previous years on the king's order, the man who asked them to cold bloodily kill and corrupt their own kingdom.
She figured that before their wanted posters spreads all over the place, they might as well turn themselves in, so that their loved ones hear nothing of it.
Hawk and Venator were getting their carriage ready, when Louis walked towards them.
"Prince Louis"
They both bowed their heads greeting.
Louis was dressed in black and golden which made the both of them think it was for his father's funeral.
"I am sorry for your loss"
Hawk said.
"No one hated that man more than me, am not grieving him"
Louis's immediate reply, made Hawk confused. He was pretty sure that no one other than Leo was announced dead by that morning.
He could not shake off the weird feeling that kept trying to get to him.
"I will be attending Ivor's funeral, you can have one last look before we leave"
The second prince said.
Hawk went speechless while following Louis towards the carriage.
His feet felt heavier with each step but he had no other choice but to accept it.
Louis's eyes met hers for a long lasting moment, while Ezra stood by Aylin's side spitting out those terrible news that did crush his soul twice in the same day that he was barely able to feel a thing under those red swollen eyes of his.
"He didn't tell me what?"
Aylin asked.
Looking at Ezra then right back at Louis while her hands started shaking.
Something inside her knew it but she n=did not want to believe it.
"Aylin, am so sorry-"
Louis said, not being able to say more than that.
"What for? why is everyone sorry for me?"
She then said, in a moment of realization, her tone changed, her voice cracked up as if their confirmation would break her down badly.
"WHERE IS ASHER?"
Aylin asked.
"Where is he? talk to me"
She then added, while Louis did nothing but looked back at her with a painful expression on his face.
"Ezra, please"
Aylin turned towards Ezra, pulling his arm and asking him to tell her the truth.
The moment he spoke, it felt like there was no sound coming out of his moving lips.
Those words were too soul wrecking for her ears to hear.
"Asher got caught up in the fire, am sorry Aylin"
She let go, stepped back looking at him while shaking her head in denial.
"No..."
Her shaky voice begged.
"Please, no"
Aylin's warm tears fell down as she cried, not loudly, she barely made a sound, before she ran out of there, back to the palace, hoping to find anything to prove them wrong.
Two unforgettable knights, were lost in that war, a war that was indeed a new fresh start for Lydia and its people.
A lot of people say that you must be ready to lose a lot of things in order to get the reward you want.
Jumping into it, thinking they can risk it all, yet no one would be ready when a war takes a loved one away from you, no amount of courage could make it acceptable, nor make it a thought that crosses any mind...
