The small fox was so light in my paws that I could carry millions of him at once without it being too heavy! Maybe that's just because he's sleeping, but I don't know. The way he's sleeping in my arms is just plain adorable; his paws are tucked up towards his chest and his back is stretched out between my paws. He was snoring lightly, his muzzle barely open, and his large ears occasionally twitched with any sudden noises. His tail was curled around my arm like a monkey would with a branch: I could just let go and he'd swing off and probably wouldn't even wake up. It's so peculiar to me because he's an anthro yet he sleeps like a feral.
I reached the corner of Canidae Road after a bit of walking. I didn't want to wake the precious vulpine, so I just guessed his house and walked to the door. I knocked thrice, and after a few seconds a female fennec fox (whom I assume is his mother) opened the door. Her mouth gaped at the sight of her son, bruised and sleeping.
"Oh my god, what happened?" she questioned frantically, her face turning pale.
"It's okay ma'am, Cooper will be fine. He just needs some looking after. I'd make sure you get an ice pack for his bruises."
"Well, what did happen?" she persisted sternly.
"He was being picked on by some dogs at our school but I stopped them. I carried him from there to here."
The blood returned to her visage and she sighed a sigh of great relief.
"Ok, give him here, I'll treat him. Do you mind coming in?" she smiled.
"If you don't mind, Miss..?"
"Call me Jenny, I don't like my surname." Fair enough. We walked into Cooper's house, and it was a fairly nice one. There were white painted walls in a skinny corridor leading to the lounge on the right and the basement on the left. Straight ahead was the kitchen which had white tile walls and looked recently refurbished. To the right of the kitchen was a door possibly leading upstairs.
"Sorry, I didn't catch your name."
"It's Alex." I smiled.
"Ok Alex, I'm just going to take him upstairs to fix his wounds. You can come up if you would like, I don't mind."
"Sure, Jenny!"Jenny led me upstairs to what looked like Cooper's room. The walls were coloured red and blue, one of the two colours per side. His bed was small, but there's no questioning why: small bed for a small fox. The window was facing the bed, so when lying down, Cooper would be able to see outside. Turning my attention to Cooper, he was still sleeping. However, that was short lived when Jenny stroked his hair and in between his ears. He slowly opened his light blue eyes, and he said something.
"A...Alex..." his voice was croaky.
"Over here, Cooper."
He slowly turned his head.
"Oh, hey," he croaked. "Hi, Aunt Jenny."
I never thought he would be living with his aunt!*Cooper's POV*
Aunt Jenny passed me a few bandaids and gave me an ice pack; I don't need her to do it for me.
"Do you want me to let your mom know you're not going to school, Alex?" Jenny said.
"Okay, yes please. Is it okay if I stay here and talk to Cooper for a while?" Alex asked.
"Sure."
Alex sat down next to me on the bed.
"Hey, uh, Cooper?" his voice was shaky.
"Yeah?"
"U-umm... you know when the dogs were calling you a f... a f..." he stuttered.
"A faggot, yeah? What about it?" I think I knew what was coming next.
"Are you really gay?" Told you.
"Yeah, I am. It's the main reason I'm bullied, other than my obvious... size." I blushed a lot.He sighed a big sigh.
"Well, guess what. So am I."
I couldn't believe it. I looked up at him with a shocked look on my face.
"You are?"
"Yeah, I um... uh..." he was blushing so hard he looked like he was about to cry.
"I had a boyfriend. We were perfect together, nothing could bring us down, apart from one thing: bullying. My boyfriend was bullied every single day just because he was openly gay. I was in the closet, though, so I didn't get any of it. Then, one day it got so bad that he tried to cut himself right in public. He was put in a mental institution, and when he was released, it got worse. So. Much. Worse. He had enough, and one night he went to the Hanging Rocks and jumped off, committing suicide. I was there, but I wasn't able to save him. I shouted him, tried to run over to him... but it was too late. A-and now...... I have n-n-nothing......" he broke down in tears.I couldn't help but sit up and hug him. He's had one of the hardest lives I've ever heard, and I really want to be one of the people who makes it better.
"You know I'm here for you, right?" I assured him.
"Y-y-yeah..."
He was still sobbing. I just couldn't stop hugging him. He really needed someone, and that someone was going to be me."Can I just say something?"
He pulled away from the hug, sniffling.
"What is i-it?"
"You saved my life earlier. There was no-one around, and without you being there, I would have bled out. I have too much to thank you for."
And with that, I looked at him in the eyes, leaned forward and kissed him right on the lips. He seemed very taken aback, but it wasn't even a passionate kiss. Just a 5 second one. I couldn't help myself, I was blushing like crazy. He was blushing even harder than me, and I couldn't help but say those three magical words;
"I love you."*AN* Well wasn't that interesting? We might have a love triangle going on here! We'll have to see what happens! Hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'll see you in the next one! Baiiiii!!!!!!
