I wake up with Emily's head on my chest. Since we no longer had any pillows, I guess my chest was the next best thing. I chuckled, I guess she really loves my chest.
I hear a twig snap and wonder where it came from. I lifted Emily's head off my chest and set her down on a bag I used as a pillow. Once I moved her head I grabbed my sword. I heard the sound of leafs and more twigs breaking on the left side of the tent, I sighed. Looks like another zombie. Since we could kind of see through our tent, I looked to see if there was one or more zombies. Staying silent, I watched the shadows. Hmm.. only two, I can handle that.
Opening my tent a little, I made sure they wouldn't hear me. Slowly, I opened the tent some more until I was able to jump out and strike.
I jumped out and was ready to attack one of them from behind when the other talked.
"Brandon look out!" One of the zombies yelled. I was now confused. Since when the hell could zombies talk?
Shocked for a moment, the guy I'm guessing who's name is Brandon grabbed his gun and aimed it at me.
"Hey, wait a minute here. We're not here to hurt you." He said.
I looked at him. He had black hair and was growing a beard. He also had blue eyes. He was kind of nice looking. Maybe that girl who is now behind me is his girlfriend or something. I saw the girl move from behind me and now next to Brandon. She looked really pretty. She looked like she has a tan, but it looked great on her. She has brown hair and these ocean blue eyes that I could stare at for days. I didn't even think someone's eyes could be that beautiful.
"Brandon, are you okay?" She asked. He nodded.
"Yeah I'm fine, but who are you?" He asked looking at me.
"Katelyn." I replied.
Brandon lowered his gun, "Nice to meet you Katelyn, I'm Brandon and this is Ashlyn." He said. Huh, so that is her name. Nice name.
"Hi." Ashlyn said.
I just nodded. "Yeah, same here."
"Are you all by yourself?" Brandon asked.
I shook my head. Should I tell them that I have my sister with me? Now Brandon and Ashlyn were looking at me weirdly. Yeah, I think I should tell them. "I have my little sister with me." I said.
Both of them looked at me with wide eyes. Okay, now I'm really confused.
"Umm.. Is something wrong." I asked confused.
"How old is she?" Ashlyn asked me. What the hell is with that look?
"She's six." I said raising my eyebrow. Why do they want to know how old Ems' is?
"No way. I haven't seen a kid since all this shit came down, I thought they were all gone." Brandon said amazed.
"Well yeah..." I answered.
"Can we umm... see her please?" Ashlyn asked.
"She's asleep right now."
"Okay. Well since she's asleep we can wait until she wakes up. Is that okay?" Brandon said.
"Sure." I replied.
We all sat at the fireplace. I sat on one side and Brandon and Ashlyn sat on the other side together. For some reason, It felt like Emily and I have been rescued. Like we have finally found people here to save us. I mean, this is the first in months since I've seen another living being other than my sister.
I looked at Ashlyn and then at Brandon. Hmm... They look like they could be brother and sister now that I think about it. Maybe I should ask...
"So umm, I guess I'll start," Brandon said. "Umm.. We were trying to clear out the area at our camp and while we were walking around the perimeter, Ashlyn spotted your tent and we went to check it out and that's how we found you guys. Are there any others?" He asked.
