"Mommy!" Jeremiah yelled. I was at Jay's house to pick him up.
"Hi baby." I picked him up. I planted kisses all over his face. Jay walked in.
"Hello Jay." I said. I put him down.
"What's up Nessa." He said, calling me bye my nickname.
"Are you ready?" I asked Jeremiah.
"No!' He yelled. I laughed.
"Why? You don't want to come home with mommy?" I asked.
"Yea." He said.
"Okay, go get your back pack." I said. His little body ran to his room. It was silent.
"Was he good?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Yea." He said. I smiled.
"Good." I said.
"What the hell are we doing?" Jay asked.
"I don't know what you doing but I'm taking care of my son." I said.
"I'm sorry." I said. I looked at him.
"Sorry? Jay you missed when he was born, his first birthday, first tooth, and everything. So leave your sorry at the front door." I explained.
"I know. I was just scared ma' I didn't know what to tell my mom's. I'm trying Vanessa." He said.
"Jay, it's going to be hard but we can get through this." I said.
"I know." He said. We had been talking for so long we didn't notice Jeremiah had re-entered the room. I looked down and he had his jacket on, his little fitted snapback and shoes.
"Jeremiah how did you learn to do that?" I asked.
"Daddy." He replied. I looked up at Jay.
"You taught him that?" I asked.
"Yea." He said. I smiled. He smiled back. I always wanted a family with Jay but he left me and I was in pure disgust. I didn't want my son around him. Now, it's like I want that family now.
"Ready?" I asked. He shook his head. Today we're going to chill with Triston. I grabbed his little hand.
"What y'all got planned for the day?" He asked.
"Spend the day with Triston." I said.
"A'iight." He said. Jay grabbed Jeremiah.
"See you next weekend." Jay kissed Jeremiah's forehead. He put Jeremiah down and he started to cry.
"What's wrong?" I asked. He sniffed.
"I don't want to go mummy!" Jeremiah cried. I picked him up and patted his little back.
"It's okay." I walked outside.
"I'll see you Friday." I said and waved.
"Bye Daddy!" Jeremiah cried. I wanted to cry my damn self. I strapped Jeremiah in his car seat and got in and sped off to Triston's mothers house. Twenty minutes later Jeremiah's little snores filled the car. My phone rang.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Where you at?" Triston asked.
"Coming from Jay's house." I said.
"You got little man with you?" He asked.
"Yea." I said.
"Alright, but hurry." He said.
"Alright." I hung up. Today I was going to Triston's mothers house. I was scared. I just start seeing this man and now I'm meeting his mother. He must really like me.
