"I will take you to Nathan's home to get a different dress if you are uncomfortable wearing this one into town." Hawke said looking her up and down. She had changed into another one of Hawke's mothers dresses. This one fit a little more loosely and hung to her ankles. Beaded fringes hung from the waistline and swung with every movement she made and the neckline was low and fringed as well.

Hawke could not seem to pull his eyes away from the sight of the pale skin revealed by the low neckline… He longed to pull the dress the rest of the way down and taste that skin.

"I think this dress is beautiful." Lily replied honestly as she twisted her hips and watched the beads whip around her. Hawke's eyes followed the movement of her hips but she didn't notice.

"Others will not think so." he warned.  Lily shrugged.

"I don't care what they think." she said. "I do want to get some fabric for some new dresses though. These dresses of your mothers are so beautiful, that I do not want to wear them everyday and ruin them."

"Whatever you want you will have. All you have to do is ask." Hawke replied. Lily blushed and ran her hands over the soft fabric on her hips as she looked around at the woods surrounding them. What she wanted was for him to take her into his arms and make love to her but she wasn't quite sure how to just come out and ask for that.

Hawke walked in to the barn and came out several minutes later with Trigger saddled. She felt that familiar heat low in her belly as he jumped fluidly up into the saddle. He held his hand out for her.

"Come on up." he said. Lily took his hand and Hawke lifted her into the saddle in front of him.

"Wouldn't it be easier for you to ride if I was behind you?" Lily asked while her body became impossibly hot as her backside rubbed against him.

"It would not be nearly as much fun." Hawke replied, grabbing the reins with one hand and wrapping his other arm tight around her waist. Lily smiled and pressed herself closer against him as they started toward town.

"Are you sure you do not want me to get off and walk?" Hawke asked as they topped over the hill and town came into sight.

"I am sure." Lily replied. "I am proud to be with you." Hawke nodded and pressed a gentle kiss to her hair but inside he was scared. Yes the great Hawke Owen was scared. Lily was going to face a lot of judgment for being with him. Not only because she was a married woman but also because she was with a man who many in town considered to be a savage. He hoped that her love for him was strong enough to handle what they had to say and that she would not turn away from him to save herself the pain of their words.

Lily could feel eyes on her as they made their way down main street. She just kept her own gaze straight ahead and Hawke pulled Trigger to a stop at the stage coach office.

"You can send a message from here." he said. "This serves as post office and telegraph office also." Lily nodded and slid down to the ground. Hawke jumped down behind her and hitched Trigger to the post.

When they walked in Hawke knew Lily was about to get her first taste of just how harsh this town could be. Greg was not working today. Today it was the owner Percy Jenkins behind the counter.

"What are you doing in my establishment?" he demanded of Hawke and then his eyes fell on Lily. "Another one?" he asked, his dark beady eyes narrowing. Then he shook his head.

"No you ain't one of them. You're too pale. Looks like you've had the hell beat out of you too. That's what you get for running around with a damn savage. They're known for treating their women no better than dogs."
