Mateo POV
She fell asleep on my chest.
Her steady breathing, the warmth of her body against mine—it was dangerous. Not because of lust, not even because of proximity... but because I was starting to care. Deeply.
I ran my fingers gently through her hair, brushing a stray strand away from her face. How could someone look this peaceful when my entire world felt like it was tilting?
I didn't move for a while. I just lay there, holding her, staring at the screen, watching a movie neither of us were paying attention to anymore.
Eventually, I whispered, "I wish I met you before all this debt nonsense. Maybe then... things would've been simpler."
She stirred a little but didn’t wake. I smiled. "You always sleep after teasing me. You little menace."
But I couldn’t deny it: I liked being teased by her.

Sia POV
I woke up to the sound of light rain tapping the windows and the scent of coffee filling the room.
Mateo wasn’t beside me anymore.
I sat up slowly, Mateo’s shirt slipping down one shoulder. It smelled like him—musk, mint, and something dark. I heard music coming faintly from the kitchen, followed by the sound of a spoon stirring.
I padded quietly toward the sound, and there he was: shirtless, in joggers, barefoot, humming along to something jazzy while making coffee.
God, why did he have to look so good doing nothing?
He turned and noticed me standing by the doorway, arms folded across my chest.
"Good morning, bella. Sleep well?"
I nodded. "You left me all alone. I could’ve been kidnapped."
He chuckled. "You were laying on top of me like a koala. I couldn't move. My arm went numb."
I gasped playfully. "And you didn’t wake me?"
"Didn’t have the heart to."
He handed me a mug. "Vanilla latte. I remember you said that’s your favorite."
I looked at him, a little surprised. "You remember stuff like that?"
He gave me a serious look. "I remember everything about you."
My heart jumped. But before I could reply, he added quickly, "We should get ready. Long day at the office."
Back to reality.

Mateo POV
On the way to the office, she sat next to me, legs crossed, eyes out the window.
We didn’t say much. Not because of awkwardness—but because the silence felt... safe. Like neither of us wanted to break whatever this was between us.
I glanced at her. "What are you thinking?"
She didn’t look at me. "That I don’t hate being around you anymore."
I smirked. "You say that like it’s a compliment."
"It is," she said. "You’re not entirely unbearable."
I reached out and took her hand.
"Neither are you."
