-Present Day-
It has been two days since my world fell apart. My friend Andy (Short for Andrea) and her family are allowing me to stay with them until we get everything sorted out. This afternoon I have a meeting with my designated social worker to discuss my family's will and what is going to happen with me, even though I could honestly care less about the stupid will. Thankfully I won't be going alone because Andy and her mum are coming with me.
"Devin!" Andy yells while waving her hands in front of my face. I look at her, still not saying anything, letting her know she has my attention. I've hardly spoken to anyone since the fire and I can tell it's affecting Andy by the look she is giving me.
"Dev, we've said your name about five times now." She sighed while giving the pity look. "Oh. Sorry, I zoned out." I said barely audible.
Ever since the moment I broke down crying after seeing my family's bodies I have been too numb to cry which has everyone worried for my sanity. But for some reason I began to cry softly. Andy notices and her face softens and she starts rubbing my back in a soothing way.
"Hey, it's all ok." She cooed. But we all knew it was a lie. "We do have to go so we aren't late, though." She says while rising from her kneeling position in front of me. Instead of answering I just follow her actions and walk out of the guest too and down the hall.

We were sitting in the social services adduce when a petite woman with red hair tied in a ponytail came out. "Devin Gibson." I stood up along with Andy and her mum. "Come with me please." She said with a smile. We followed her to an office at the end of a short hallway. We went in and sat in chairs in front of her desk.
"Hello. My name is Mrs. Richards and I would like to start off by saying how sorry I am about your current situation." Sorry. The word I have come to loathe. The word people use to make it seem like they care. The word that has lost all meaning. In response I just nod my head and look down at my hands. She slightly grimaces before continuing.
"Alright, so the first order of business is this note attached to to your parents will, so please read it and then we can continue." I reach over the desk and she hands me the envelope with my name written on the front in my mothers handwriting that I will never witness her doing again. Taking a deep breath I open the flap of the envelope and with shaking hands I take out the letter.
Our dearest Devin,
If you are reading this then your father and I are no longer with you, it also means that you are still a minor. I know you will not like our decision but just know that we are doing it for your own good. Your legal guardian is your uncle Ed so you will be going to live with him in London. Thirty three percent of our savings will go to you while the other sixty seven percent will be split between your sisters. Love, we just want to say that we are sorry for anything that transpired that we never apologized for. I know that you have always thought that your father and I weren't proud of you but everyday we look at you we are overwhelmed with pride for having such an amazing daughter like you. I wish I could've helped you get ready for your first date, or watch your father walk you down the aisle, I guess in someways I will. Please promise to keep in touch with your sisters, family is the most important thing we have. We wish we could've seen you grow up, just know we are always with you. We love and will miss you dearly.
With all our love, Mum and Dad
Mrs. Richards handing me a box of tissues broke me from my thoughts and I graciously accepted them with a quiet thank you. "We contacted Edward Cunningham yesterday evening and he is currently on a plane so he should be here later this evening." Mrs. Richards said before I zoned out. Uncle Ed? Really?

We got back to Andy's house after the meeting and I went straight to the guest bedroom that I was occupying. I walked in and when I shut the door I slid down it and began to cry.
-Flashback-
"Daddy higher!" I squealed. "Pumpkin if you go any higher you may learn to fly and then fly away from us! We can't let that happen." He chuckled. " I won't, I promise." My six year old self said while giggling. "Sorry can't risk it." He said before he started tickling me. "Dadddyyy! Stopppp!" I squealed while giggling my head off.
-End Flashback-
I fell asleep crying because I missed my family.
