Namjoon raised a hand, motioning for silence. The cry came again—faint, hoarse, like someone who had screamed for hours but could only now muster a broken echo of it.
They followed it.
Through overgrown vines, along the crumbling stone wall of the east courtyard—the one that hadn't been used in years because it led nowhere but to an abandoned servants' tunnel. A place meant to be forgotten.
But tonight, nothing stayed buried.
Namjoon kicked open the rusted gate, and the three of them descended into the shadowed passage. The air was thick with dust, decay, and something colder—fear. Y/N felt it before she saw it. A drop of blood. Fresh. Still wet.
And then—another.
And another.
Until finally, in a room barely lit by moonlight leaking through cracked ceiling tiles, they found him.
Jimin.
Slumped against the wall, one arm bound, the other limp. His white shirt now soaked in crimson. His face bruised, but his expression—hauntingly calm.
His eyes met Y/N’s.
And he smiled.
Jimin: Noona... you found me.
She didn’t hesitate. She ran. Dropped to her knees beside him. Her hands, trembling, cupped his cheek, trying to hide how her breath caught in her throat. The pain on his face didn’t scare her—but the stillness in his eyes did.
Y/N: Why the hell didn’t you scream louder?! We were—God, Jimin—what happened to you?!
His whisper was almost inaudible, every syllable soaked in exhaustion.
Jimin: I tried... but I didn’t want them to follow. I... I lured them away. There’s more than one. They knew everything. Our plans. Our routes. Even our safehouses. It was an inside job.
Namjoon’s blood ran cold.
Namjoon: Inside...?
Jimin nodded weakly, wincing as Hoseok cut his bindings.
Jimin: Not just any insider. It’s one of us.
Silence. Jimin held each of their gaze.
A silence so sharp it cut deeper than Jimin’s wounds.
Hoseok, shaking, stared down at him.
Hoseok: What... do you mean one of us?
Jimin: I heard them. Talking. One voice was... familiar. Too familiar. Someone in this house betrayed us. That party—it wasn’t just a distraction. It was a setup.
Y/N felt her world tilt. Her heart pounded louder than her thoughts. Betrayal wasn’t new in this world—but betrayal from within?
Jimin suddenly clutched her arm.
Jimin: Noona... listen to me... you need to be careful. Not just of strangers—but of us. Trust no one. Not even them.
And then he fainted.
Back at the mansion, panic rose like wildfire as word spread—Jimin had been found. But no one celebrated. Because the question hanging in the air wasn’t who took him.
It was who let it happen.
Jin stood outside the infirmary, eyes fixed on the floor. He had always been the calm one. The eldest. The steady ship.
