More than friends (Liam Payne Fanfic).

Chapter Six.

LIAM'S POV

I have been doing my best to come and see Lauren. It's hard though because of the tour but her nan and dad keep me updated every day but today is a special day. Today is the day we are waking Lauren up. 

Luckily it's the start of our break so I don't have to miss any shows.

"when are you leaving mate?" Harry asked.

"soon, just getting a few bits together and then Dave is driving me to the hospital"

"well let us know as soon as you get chance, we want to come and see her at some point"

"of course" I smiled.

Harry helped me get the rest of my things together and then I was on my way.

30 MINUTES LATER.

I have been waiting with her nan and dad and they haven't told us anything. We are waiting just outside her room so we can see in and she still looked beautiful. 

"right, we are ready to take her off the machine"

Her nan gripped my hand as we watched from the window. They flicked the switch and eventually she started opening her eyes. I wish I was there standing over her so I was the first one she saw when she woke up. I could see the doctor smiling and talking to her before he came outside.

"right, Mr and Mrs Adams would you like to come in first and then Mr Payne once they have been in you can join, just as you're not family"

I wanted to go in first but I understood, "yes that's fine"

I watched as her nan and dad graped onto her hands and smiled and cried and I could just make out she was smiling. 

"Liam, come in" her dad said as he poked his head out the door.

I walked in and she looked at me with those big brown eyes, I wanted to cry now.

"hi Lauren"

She just looked at me.

"Lauren?"

"can you get him out please"

"what?" I asked in surprise.

"please dad" and with that Jeff took me out the room and I just broke down.

LAUREN'S POV

It hurt to send Liam away like that but I couldn't face him. Not yet. I didn't realise how much it hurt what he did to me and I guess that's one of the reasons I crashed because my mind was wondering off and I didn't see the lorry, even though it was obviously their fault. 

"Liam wanted me to give you this" dad passed me barf boy, the teddy he had won me at the fair. 

"tell him thanks"

"why don't you tell him yourself?"

"because" I was so close to my dad. I didn't have my mum growing up so dad and nan have always been there for me, "because I went to see him and didn't get to spend any time with him. His girlfriend always showed up when we were at lunch and then feel out with Liam at dinner so I let them have our table and then he didn't wake up in time to say bye to me and then obviously this happened"

"well have you fought that it wasn't Liam's fault?" 

"what do you mean dad?"

"well think about it. Liam wanted to spend time with you but his girlfriend only ever showed up when the two of you were together and if he really didn't want to spend time with you, would he come here everyday or at least try to come as much as he could to see you and just sit and talk to you for a couple of hours even though you couldn't hear him"

"he really did that?"

"yes he did Lauren, but it's up to you"

My dad really did know how to make me feel guilty. He had obviously had a chat with Liam and he showed how upset he was so he thought he would quilt trip me.

"he still let me down"

"he might of done, but I think he made it up by being at your beside most of the time"

I could see out the window and he was still sitting there with his face in his hands and when he looked up his eyes were bright red from where he had been crying. 

"ask him to come in please dad"

He smiled back and he knew that I had made the right decision. 

"hi" was all I could say to him. Looking at his face made me want to cry and hug him but I was still pissed off with him.

"hi" he came and sat in the chair next to me and played with his hands and couldn't look at me.

"dad told me about you coming to my bedside, that was sweet of you"

"well it was the least I could do after the way I behaved and I don't blame you for not wanting to see me straight away. I don't expect you to forgive me and I don't want to be forgiven because I should have never treated you in the way I did"

"Liam stop. I'm still angry and pissed off but you're my best friend and it means the world that you were here"

He smiled at me and I smiled back knowing that no matter what happened he would be by my side. Even when I don't know he's there. 

LIAM'S POV

No one has any idea how happy I am that Lauren has let me see her. I know it will take time for her to forgive me but at least it's a start. There is one thing on my mind though and that's the fact I have grown feelings for her, ones that should have never crossed my mind and there is one person who I know will try to understand.

ON THE PHONE.

"Harry I need to tell you something"

"what is it? is it Lauren?"

"no, she's fine it's just I think that umm I think I love her"

"oh no Liam"

"I know Harry, I just can't get the idea out of my head"

"you can't do this to yourself, Dani or Lauren"

"I know, I just really need someone to talk to and you were the first person I thought of"

"aww mate that means a lot but the best thing to probabley do is some home so we can talk"

"but I need to be here with Lauren"

"yes but if you spend more time with her, I'm sure your feelings will get stronger so maybe you should have a couple of days here, just to sort your head out"

"hmmm ok, but I'm going to spend the rest of today with her and then come home"

"ok, see you soon"

Harry was right, I did need to get home but I needed to be with Lauren, just today so I know she is fine.
