Chapter5:
Now that I realize most people reading this will have no clue what half of the things I talk about really are, I should at least explain the main house.
My friends and I are still to young to live on our own. And although we have parents who love us, our magic training can be kind of dangerous, especially in a house full of normal people. Let's just say when you are casting fire out of our hands for the first time the probability of something going wrong is almost 100%.
Not everyone can do this, but it is one of the more common powers surprisingly. Especially since it is a rare gift in the demigods world. Anyway, back to topic.
The main house is amazing. It can be anything you want it to be and more. The elders use all forms of magic to create this place and thank the gods it is indestructible. I alone could most likely destroy an entire continent with out even trying now, especially if I'm angry. Now imagine hundreds of other students just as crazy as me with uncontrollable powers.
Ya, not so good.
As I enter the giant kitchen, I see the boys having a thumb war over a tub of icing, so naturally I grab it.
"Mine!"
"Hey!"
"Give it!"
"Nope!"
I open the top and sigh "it's empty. Any ways, I want to talk to you guys."
"What about?" Victoria asks grabbing a bag of gushers from the cabinet.
"Well, I know that sometimes we have to go to certain dimensions to complete certain tasks or quests but there are non to go on right now so why not go to the Divergent dimension." I explain "it is the one place that we all know and if we go for initiation I may be able to dislocate Peters arm and play a bit of truth or dare."
"Lets go then!" Cheers Luca "I want to meet them, especially Four!" He finishes wiggling his eyebrows.
The reason he is so excited is because last year we fell so in love with their book we decided named who's who. I could tell wou what was decided on but where's the fun in that. Maybe later, but for now I have to go scare everyone in the dauntless compound.
"Okay let's go to the time of The choosing ceremony." I explain, "we can watch them choose and then follow them back to dauntless but we have to be careful not to be caught."
After going over a few more things like; what to do if we get caught. We all go to our rooms and pack a few things before we leave. I am excited, this will be the first new world I will enter the possibility is truly endless. Once I'm done I meet everyone else downstairs and the second were all ready we vanish.
****************************** Seconds later*****************************************
We appear in the centre of the pit. By the looks of it everyone is already at the choosing ceremony. "Common lets get out of here there is a ventilation shaft just above the chasm" I whisper shout, "I can use my powers to get us up there." Everyone agrees and in seconds we were up in the ventilation shaft making our way to the street and then the choosing ceremony.
A few rights here and lefts there in the ventilation and then a long walk to the hall consumes a good 20 minutes. "Clary what time is it?" I ask her. We were all sitting in some sort of circle around the skylight of hall watching children pick their new faction. "Three p.m. their time."
"They must be finishing soon then." Joe says while watching the next boy choose Candour.
Just after he say that we hear a finally applause and then everything that could go wrong does. Of course I'm the one that leans forward just a bit to much and loose my balance. I can feel my self falling, but all I can do is will myself not to crash into the floor. There is silence as I stand up slowly. Then I'm grabbed and the commotion starts.
I hear them talking about what they are going to do, but I focus more on sending a message to Steven. See, Steven was born a werewolf and has a mind link between him and his pack. I use it to contact him telling him to go home with the others an that I'll be fine.I look up to see him nod an soon they are all gone. The worry on their face evident.
I'm brought back to reality when the questions begin. I do not say anything though because that's what we agreed on. If your caught. Say nothing and escape as soon as possible.
The questions continue until the finally see I'm not speaking. It is then that Andrew Prior stands up and begins to talk. "I say we let her choose a faction. Let her go through initiation and maybe just maybe she will find her voice again." The pain in his voice is clear but understandable seeing as he did just loose both his children. What surprised me however was that Jenina Matthew's (the Erudite leader) agreed. These two factions are known to despise each other, so for their to be a common ground on something is very rare.
With that, I am dragged to the stage and ordered to stand I front of the faction I choose. Seeing as my hands were bound and they do not trust me with a knife it was the only logical idea. A good this to seeing as I was not about to cut myself for them.
I made my way to the Dauntless bowl, feeling comfort from the heat steaming off of the warm coals. I may not be a part of this world. But Dauntless really feels like home. With that, Marcus Eaton began to speak, " That ends our choosing ceremony and all initiates will now return with their new factions." He the. Turns to me, "you however will be questioned for a bit longer before being sent away."
As everyone left one way I was dragged out another. Only to spend the longest six hours of my life.
********************************
By the time I returned to the dauntless compound it was nine in the evening. The past few hours were so boring that I almost fell asleep. Adults say they are smarter yet they waste their time asking pointless questions. Here's a sum up of how it went.
"How old are you?"
No response
"Where are you from?"
No response.
"Are there others of you?"
No response and that is how the entire time was spent. They finally gave in when the frustration was too much to handle.
I'm currently sitting on one of the empty bunks in the dorm room for transfer initiates. It's still early and I don't expect anyone to be back soon, but in exhausted. I still find it weird possessing all these powers and it doesn't help that they are draining my energy faster than normal. It seems like the second my head touched the pillow I was out.
