Chapter four
"Alright, show me what you know." The blue haired magician, Yamraiha, told Neah.
"Do I seriously need to be watched?" Neah asked, glaring at Sinbad who stood to the side.
"Yes. Now, continue." Sinbad crossed his arms.
"Whatever. Thalg Thalgeyya!" Wind and ice dragons attacked nothing in particular.
Yamraiha watched closely, still interested in how Neah did magic, "Composite magic, huh?"
"Thalg Al-Salos!" Neah continued, this time ice shards rained down.
"Is ice magic your specialty?" Yamraiha asked.
"Another thing like Judar." Sinbad muttered.
Neah sent the king another glare before answering the magician, "I dunno. I can do a bit of everything, I guess."
"Really? What else do you know?"
"Uh..." Neah thought for a moment. "Ramz Al-Salos!" Black lightning rained down.
"Hmm..." Yamraiha thought out loud, "It's black..."
"Yeah... That's basically it, besides a few defencive spells." Neah breathed.
Yamraiha thought for a few moments, "You need a lot of work."
"Thanks, Captain Obvious."
"We should start with getting you a staff."
"Alright...cool. That'll be a lot easier." Neah agreed. She sighed and moved her hands to her sweater pocket. Her hands stopped as they hit something hard. She frowned and pulled the object from her pockets, "Hey! this is the book I stole from MWS!" Neah's expression brightened. She began flipping through the pages, Yamraiha and Sinbad walking over to see what she was talking about.
"What does it say?" The female magician asked, looking over the magi's shoulder.
Neah sighed again, "Nothing useful, well, not really. It's just information on all the djinns. Like their names, dungeon number, abilities, previous owners, blah blah blah."
"That could be useful, actually." Sinbad reached for the book, "Let me have a look at it."
Neah shut the book and moved it from his reach, "Like hell I'm giving it to a manipulative bastard like you!" She quickly returned it to her hoodie's pouch. "You could totally use it to fuck with other countries that have dungeon capturers."
"Hmph. Fine." Sinbad backed off.
"Well...Anyway. Am I getting a staff, or what?" Neah turned her attention to Yamraiha.
"Yes, come with me." The blue haired woman nodded and lead her away.

"Alright, now try casting a spell, Neah." Yamraiha instructed.
"Ok." Neah nodded and looked over her new staff again. It was almost taller than the rather short magi and black. It wasn't very fancy, just a black staff. On one end, the staff splits into two curved pieces that swirl around each other and form a point. Neah had also changed her outfit, wanting to wear something that would allow her to fit in more. She now wore a fitting, short sleeved black crop top and black harem-style pants that ended at her ankles. Neah also wore robes similar to some of the generals, cream colored cloth outlined in green that she left open, although she'd rather not wear it at all. She was also barefoot, she never really liked shoes besides her kombat boots anyway. "Sharrar!" Neah tried to create a defensive magic, which should've been a wall of mist. Instead, Neah struggled to even gather the necessary water.
"Imagine you're sending your rukh into the staff," Yamraiha advised.
"I am." Neah tried harder, "Sharrar!" Nothing. Come on! Neah yelled at herself. Gather the water... She tried commanding the rukh. She breathed sharply in annoyance when it didn't work. "Why isn't this working?!"
"You're pushing it too hard." Yamraiha walked over to her. "After so many years of using your hands for magic, the rukh aren't used to this. Relax." The magician placed her hands on Neah's, that were gripping the staff tightly in both hands.
Neah huffed and pushed the female's hands off of hers, "I am relaxed."
"Try a different spell, then."
"Fine." Neah concentrated more, "Sharrar Baraq!" She held her breath and forced the rukh to obey her. A small amount of water began to gather, and form itself into a miniature version of the dragon-like water attack. Neah dispelled it and panted, "That's all I can do?!"
"Hmm..." Yamraiha thought for a while. "You're going to need to practice much more, but eventually you'll be able to use magic like normal again."
Neah groaned, "How long is this going to take?!"
"Well, if you work hard, it shouldn't take much time at all." Yamraiha sighed lightly, "For now, get some rest."
"Yeah, right." Neah adjusted the Sindrian robes in annoyance, "Do I really have to wear these?"
"King Sinbad requested it." Yamraiha shrugged, "It's really not that bad, you'll get used to it."
"Easy for someone who actually likes being here to say." Neah crossed her arms. "Your king is an asshole."
"You're the one who said you wanted to stay here," The magician reminded.
"What other choice did I have?" Neah sighed, "Whatever. See you later, Yam." She waved lazily as she left.
Neah headed in the direction of another training area, not ready to be done for the day. She trained for several more hours until it was nearing dusk, when someone interrupted her, "Didn't Yamraiha tell you to stop for the day?"
The black haired magi jumped at the voice and sent an attack their way, "Sharrar Baraq!" The spell was still weak, but the dragon-shaped water was still enough to soak the person.
"Woah, hey!" The person narrowly escaped the attack, still getting wet.
"Sinbad?!" Neah got a closer look at the now soaked king. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"This is my country," Sinbad began ringing out his robes in annoyance. "The question is what are you doing out here when Yamraiha told you to stop?"
"Well, unlike you guys who have nothing to worry about, I need to get back to my time and stop the MWS." Neah crossed her arms, slightly amused at herself for attacking the king.
"And how do you plan on doing that?"
"I don't know, but I can't just sit here and do nothing!" Neah suddenly grew angry. "Who knows what they're doing to the magicians! To the djinns, too! Even one of your djinn could be getting probed and tested on!"
"That seems unlikely." Sinbad said. "How would the MWS be able to keep a djinn under their control like that?"
"I don't know." Neah growled. "But they are. They've got tons of fucked up weapons."
"You plan on fighting alone?"
"You plan on offering help?" Neah leaned against a nearby column. "I thought you hated me for being related to Judar."
"Would you like my help, Neah?" Sinbad asked. Neah narrowed her eyes.
Now the magi was torn. She wanted anything but having to ask for the kings help. But she also knew that having the Seven Seas Alliance, with all of their metal vessels and household users, would be very helpful. Neah frowned and stood up straight, "No." She began walking away, leaving the king confused. That wasn't the answer he expected.
