{~~Chapter 19~~}

For the next day, I planned. While nobody was around me, I packed a small bag of clothing for my trek to Edira's hide-out. I spent hours in my dad's office, trying to figure out where she could possibly be hiding. Their attacks were kind of scattered everywhere around us. They haven't directly attacked us on our land, only on the outskirts. I tried to think of why they would do that.

"Dante?" I looked up in surprise at my father. He came into the room quietly, making sure nobody was behind him. "I know you're up to something. You've been in here all day, and avoiding everybody." He said. I looked down at the map and my notes. If I tell him, my entire plan will be destroyed. Then again, I can easily get past anybody. It would be a little more challenging to get past him, but I could do it. I continued my previous actions. "I'm leaving tonight. I need to do something, and I might be gone for a while." I said. I expected him to yell or snap, but he did neither. He sat down in the leather seat in front of his desk.

"Where do you need to go?" He asked, his voice slightly tight. I know he's going to argue, that's just how he is. I shrugged one shoulder. "Don't tell Mom, or Addie, okay?" He nodded. "The vampires's supposed leader, Edira, is looking for me. She wanted me brought to her when we were attacked the other day, but as you saw, I was too strong for them." I said, looking up at him steadily. "So, I'm going to her. It's the only way to ensure that Addie, you, and Mom are safe from harm." I explained.

Instead of arguing, he narrowed his eyes at me - studying my facial expression. He nodded, sighing and leaning his elbows on his knees. "Dante, I had the same mindset at your age. After I met your mother, I wanted to protect her more than anything. She was my first priority, and so is Adeline for you." He said, his forest green eyes locked with mine. "But you have to understand that if you get killed, you'll be leaving her alone without any answers as to why you left. It'll drive her to death." He said. I felt a pain in my chest, but pushed it away, looking down. "It would be better for her anyways. She deserves better than a mate who can't even control their actions - like a misbehaved child." I growled deeply in anger. I was angry that this is how Fate decided to set my life. I can control very little of what I do, especially when I'm in my wolf form. I'm just a weapon of destruction, and weapons don't have mates.

He sighed, a look of gentleness showed on his usually stony face. "I'm not telling you to stay, but I'm not telling you to go. I just want you to think about your choice wisely." He said and stood up. He pointed at a spot on the map. "That's where they've attacked most. I suggest you start towards that direction. They'll find you if you don't find them first. Dante," I looked up at him like I used to do so many years ago. "Don't die." He said and clapped a hand on my shoulder before leaving me alone once again.

I take more notes as to where Dad told me to try out first. I made a quick sketch of the map before putting the papers in my bag. I want to spend as much time with Addie as I can before I leave tonight after everyone is asleep. I hide the bag where nobody will find it and walk around the house for a little while. I need to clear my head. My wolf is edgy, but excited to be able to escape the sad looks whenever he takes the reins from me. I'm going to allow him to take control whenever he needs after I leave here. It will be a relief for both of us.

Mating with her will be an even better relief for us. My wolf said suggestively. I rolled my eyes, sighing as I pushed away the mental images he put into my mind. We're not leaving her like that. It would feel too much like a one night stand, and that's not right. I snapped at him angrily. I'm tired of him trying to push me to do that.

Suddenly, I feel somebody slam right into me. I felt dulled sparks and grabbed Addie's shoulders, steadying her as she grasped my hands. I felt the corner of my mouth tilt up and looked down at her. "You okay?" I asked and she nodded, smiling lightly. "Yeah, I'm fine." I raised my eyebrows at her when she looked behind her quickly. Now I'm worried. My smile falls. "What is it? It's late, and you're walking around." I asked and she looked back up at me, chewing on her bottom lip. I noticed that fear swam in her eyes. "Addie, what is it?" I growled. She flinched at my sudden change of mood and I gently cupped her cheek. "I'm not angry." I reassured her softly and she nodded.
