Chapter 5:
We leaped from behind the bushes and pummeled Brent with water balloons filled with dry ice that I easily made. He shifted and bared his teeth at Addie, growling and snarling viciously. She hid behind me and I could feel the electricity coming off of her. I growled at Brent and realization crossed over his face. He shifted and ran into the woods, grabbing a pair of sweats we had placed all around the territory. I heard and felt Addie spark and she wrapped her arms around my waist.
Brent was watching us curiously. "Xavier nor Jezebelle mentioned you finding your mate." He said gently. Addie was frozen in place with her hands on my abs. I chuckled and she shook her head, stepping away from me. She made a ball of electricity around her tiny body and growled at Brent. "Hey, it's okay. He didn't know you were my mate." I said softly and she calmed down, walking back to me and pressing against me nervously. "What's your name?" Brent asked. "Adeline, but just call me Addie." She said hesitantly. I noticed that her dark brown hair had a reddish tint in the sunlight.
"Is your father excepting her into the pack?" I looked back at Brent. "No, not until she proves her intentions and that she can be trusted." I growled and he looked down. "Seems like something he's always done. Well," he looked up as he walked back into the woods, "good luck." Then he was gone. I knew what he meant when he said that. "Good luck...? Good luck getting into the pack?" Addie asked in confusion and I smiled deviously. "We started the next prank war, that's what he referred it to." I said and she looked down. "Oh," she murmured and pulled away from me. She started walking towards the woods. "Hey, what's wrong?" I said, chasing after her. She didn't look up and walked faster. She started running and I ran after her, my feet barely making a sound as they hit the ground.
I couldn't find her and I started to panic. I skidded to a stop and looked around. My breath quickened in fear. "Addie?" I called out, but only silence responded. My eyes searched the shadows. "Addie!" I yelled. I heard the sound of sparks and ran towards it. I saw Addie on the ground with a ball of electricity around her shaking body. She was clenching her head and bent over with her forehead almost touching the ground. She screamed in pain and I ran toward her. I made an ice sword and slashed through the barrier. It made a loud snap and the barrier disappeared in a large explosion. I had to shield my eyes because it was so bright. I looked down at Addie and knelt down beside her.
She wasn't shaking anymore. She looked up at me in astonishment. Her eyes were glassy with tears. "H-how did you do that?!" She breathed out and slid away from me. It was a stab to my heart, but I shrugged it off. "I don't know. I just cut through the barrier with an ice sword." I said, not meeting her electric blue eyes. "What was that anyways?" I asked curiously. She looked down, hatred glittered in her eyes. "I almost lost control. It happens every month, it's nothing bad." I pulled her cold body against me. "I can help you fix that. Come on," I helped her up and we walked back inside.
I led her down to Tasha's cell and I saw electricity sparking in her eyes. I punched in the code and it opened. I closed it behind me when I walked in with Addie holding my arm tightly. Tasha looked up and smiled, her sharpened canines denting her bottom lip. "I see that my vision came true. As expected every time. What a boring game it is," she sighed. "Sitting down here and waiting to see if what I see is true." She said, inspecting her long claw like nails. I glanced at Addie nervously and she was staring at Tasha in pure hatred and rage, growling lowly. Tasha looked at Addie and mockery gleamed in her dark eyes. "Oh, is that who I think it is?" She asked no one in particular. Addie's eyes sparked viciously and I was afraid she would lose it.
Tasha crossed her legs and watched curiously, a taunting smile on her slender face. "It is. My little experiment, Adeline. You have grown stronger than when I first saw you." Addie growled loudly. "You never even saw me. You got pissed and cursed my fathers weak spot." She hissed through clenched teeth. Tasha laughed and shook her head. "You were not his weak spot, dearest Adeline. You were simply a thing that he whipped up with his pitiful mate." She said eerily cheerful. I was confused, but didn't have time to speak when Addie roared furiously.
