The Longest Ride part 2

Back At It

Sophia's POV:

          I wake up the next morning, I turned around  expecting to see Luke,  he wasn't next to me so I suspected that he was downstairs cooking breakfast.  I wandered into the kitchen to see you Luke standing over the stove top in his underwear. 

          "Good morning  Luke,  why are you up so early today? "

          "I have something special planned for us today Sophia, you've always wanted to do this and now I'm excited to be able to take you, and to be able to do what I love again. " Luke was for sure talking about bull riding, hopefully neither of us get hurt, especially him he's been through a lot. 

          "I know what you talking about babe, you to take me  bull riding,  just promise me that you won't get hurt again, I understand that I am just going to be riding a mechanical bull, but we need the money and I know that you're going to start bull riding again, I love you and I  would never be able to lose you in my life. "

         "Soph,  what are you talking about I'm not gonna start bull riding again, I'm taking you over to my friend Jared's house he has some and he is was in the PBR with me and he said he would show you how to ride. "

          "OK Luke, when are we going? "In my mind I was so truly grateful that he wasn't bull riding anymore, or even considering it I truly wouldn't have a life without him. 

          "We're leaving in two hours, he has a wife and two kids, we're going to learn how to ride then we are having a dinner with my friends from the PBR,  sorry it's short notice. I also want to show off my beautiful fiancée."Luke chuckled to himself, he's a huge airhead.

Luke's POV:

           We are on our way to my friend Jared's house, Sophia's hand and mine are intertwined with Bleu our dog in the backseat.   As we pull up Jared's driveway Sophia  and I hop out of the car attaching Bleu's  leash. 

           "Hey man, how have you been, haven't seen you in a while since you gave up after riding Rango?" 

          "Man, that's not even funny, at least I could stay on him unlike you,  glad to see you still have your sense of humor, how you been man?"

          " I've been good, married two kids, I retired, living the simple life, what about you?"  I look over at Sophia, who is talking to Jared's wife.

          "Well I've got big news, yesterday Sophia and I got engaged, to be honest doesn't feel like anything has changed."

          "It was just yesterday, things will change you'll be happy, now are you ready to go ride some bulls?"

          "Let me go get Sophia, she's really excited."

Sophia's POV:

          We are headed out to Jared's barn,  I get to watch him, Luke, and some of their other PBR friends ride the bulls, after they are done riding Jered's  wife, Abigail and I will ride the mechanical bull. 

           First up is Luke, then Jared,  and then some friends of his that I don't know, but what I do know is that these men are amazing. They can all last eight seconds on this bucking animal, and not fall off.  Luke makes the eight seconds on Gunpowder and Lead, Jared makes the eight seconds on Bushwhacker,  those are the only two bulls that Jared owns.  They ride repeatedly on and off on and off with these two bulls. 

            Next  is Abigails turn on their mechanical bull they keep in the barn. I am second guessing my decision to want to ride this bull now,  Abigail only lasted 3.3 seconds, hopefully with great instruction from Luke I'll be able to be better and beat Abigail, I like some friendly competition.

            Is now my turn, I get up and Luke boosts me  to mount the mechanical bull. He whispers some helpful hints in my ears, and tells me "now show em what you're made of ".  I want to say I did last eight seconds, but I didn't. I still beat Abigail lasting almost 8 seconds was 7.3 seconds, for me that's pretty great. 

           We're now headed back up to the house where Jared is hosting a barbecue, definitely carved up an appetite. I walk over to Luke and give him a big kiss on the cheek, "Luke you are really good, I haven't seen you ride in a while, we will have to hang out with Jared more often," I chuckled to myself as  make our way up the stairs. 

          Dinner was delicious we are now on our way home, the day was well spent. I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that I will be marrying my best friend.
