Today is the day! We are finally going to Camp Half Blood for the legacy reunion! It's always a blast because-not to brag- we're kinda famous. I mean, c'mon! We are the children of the seven! As in the ones who defeated Gaea. And apparently when my parents were younger, percabeth was the power couple.
All of the older girls got up early to get ready for the day. Because, you know, got to look good for the camera.
Yes, Hephaestus TV and Godly Gossip magazine will be covering this. Personally, I think it's a little much. I mean, we just want to be normal demigods. Sure, we're the children of the Seven, but that shouldn't prevent us from having normal-or as normal as it gets for a demigod-lives.
I washed and blow dried my curly hair. I left it as it is, because I like my natural hair. You hear all these girls with curly hair saying how they want straight hair, when in reality, they have no idea how much some people pay to make their hair like that. It can be a bit of a bother in the mornings though. When you wake up with a 'fro, you know it's gonna be hard to tame the mane.
Anyways, I pulled up my favorite black skinny jeans and did the little pants dance.
You know the one.
One leg. Two legs. Pull up. Jump. Jump. Wiggle. Squat.
Yeah, ladies. You feel me.
I put on a mint green flowy crop top. Mint is my absolute favorite color. I slipped a golden arrow ring on my finger and a golden cuff and chain on my ear.
I started with my makeup.
I applied the perfect smokey eye-with a little help from Kayla-and lined my sea green eyes with a dramatic black eyeliner. I smeared on a hot pink lipstick to complete my makeup.
I slipped on my favorite pair of nude wedge sneakers. They were so cute, and went with my outfit perfectly. Lastly, I clasped my trident necklace around my neck. I never went anywhere without it.
By the time the ladies were ready, everyone else had gotten showered, dressed, eaten breakfast, and packed a bag for today.
I grabbed my fringe purse off my bed and I was ready to go.
Everyone crammed into their cars. We got to take the 'Stang today.
And we were off. Camp Half Blood was only 10 minutes away, so there wasn't a lot of rest time in the car.
I swear it was like we were backstage a Broadway performance. Mom double- and triple-checking we had everything we needed, telling us how to smile, what angles looked best on us. Just general tips on how to work the camera.
The celebrity life is hard.
We pulled up to camp and the attention was on our families. We stepped out of our cars and immediately cameras began clicking. According to a floating hologram above the Hephaestus TV camera we were live.
There was a lot of shouting to get our attention.
"Bianca, is it true you're going out with Matt Valdez?"
How on earth did they know about that??
"Bianca! We heard rumors of you stealing a car, can you confirm this?"
What the fuck, how did that start?
The eight families made our way down to the big house, all the while trying to avoid paparazzi as much as possible.
Chiron welcomed us with open arms and we all said our hellos. He gave us a schedule and that was that.
We unpacked our things in our cabins.
Dad and I went to the Poseidon cabin, while Luke and Mom went to the Athena cabin.I took a peek at the schedule. We had a celebratory meal in and hour. Everyone was going to be there. So that meant I had an hour of free time. I set off towards the beach. The sea is my happy place for obvious reasons. I laid out a blanket and opened the book To Kill a Mockingbird. It was for summer reading, not that I'm complaining.
"People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for."
I underlined that. I knew it was important for Lit class.
As I continued my vision was becoming blurry.
"It's just your dyslexia." I dismissed the thought. But as I continued it became worse. A dull throb in my head became a migraine. I felt dangerously feverish. When I looked down at myself I saw my veins had turned a poisonous black.
No. Now was not the time for a relapse. I fought the burning sensation until I couldn't bear it any longer. I screamed. The fire inside took over and I was left lying there, helpless while having a shaking fit. I heard voices in the distance.
Despite the fact I could see feet in the distance , I gave in to the blackness shrouding my vision.
Pain. All I felt was pain. My body felt like it was in a rotisserie oven. A burning desire for possessive dark force inside of me to escape.
All at once it stopped. The pain resided but I was no longer in control of my own body. It looked as though I was watching the world around me through a tv screen.
"We have waited so very long for this." An unearthly voice hissed in my head. "Do not try and fight this. It will only make matters... Well... complicated.
Through my tv screen vision, I saw my self stand up. "I" looked at my hands and wiggled my fingers.
"Ahh, I have forgotten the bliss of having a body. Being able to roam the earth and possess whom I choose. Is it not delightful?" The voice cooed. It wanted to walk forward. I could feel our willpowers straining agains one another.
"Oh, tsk, tsk, tsk. What have I told you about resisting?" It laughed without humor.
Again the incinerating feeling started in my chest and spread throughout my body. I screamed and wretched but my physical body remained still.
This had to be a dream. Yes it's all a dream! I told myself I pinched my arm but nothing happened. The scenery stayed the same.
