Chapter 4

Chresanto

"August?!"

The doctor called. I got up with Tia in my hand and followed her to the back. She checked Tia's temperature, weight, and height. "Wow, she's showing great improvement... Growing very quickly.'"  I smiled, then she led me to a room to wait for us to see a doctor.  5 minutes later the Doctor showed up.

"Hello Chresanto" Dr. Harris greeted. "Hello" I greeted back. "Where is Aubriella this morning?" he asked. "She's at school" He nodded typing on the computer. "So I see Tiana is showing improvement, so that's good. But there is one thing I would like to discuss about her health"

I nodded, getting a bit worried. "So We just found out that Tiana has Sickle cell" I gave a confused look cause I never heard of it. "Can you explain more on that?" I asked.

"Well, Sickle cell is disease that most children are born with. They either get the trait or the disease. In this case since both you and Aubriella has the trait Tiana carried the disease." he explained. "Soo, is it deadly.." I trailed off. "In Tiana's case no. She has SC, which is the mild version of Sickle cell. I wouldn't think you'd have to worry about it until she's around 4 or five.. But I'll give you the Panflit and a video if you want more info... Also Im going to refer her to a sickle cell specialist." I nodded as he handed me the paper work.

"Her first appointment with her specialist will be in a month or two, but we'll mail you that information" he stood up once I did. "Thanks" I said shaking his hand with my free hand. With that I left out.

Once I got home, Tia was bawling her eyes out. I hurried and fixed her a bottle, popping it into her mouth. She stopped and drank it. I sat on the couch, and pulled out my phone calling Bri's cell. She picked up on the 2nd ring. "Hey bae" she sang. I smiled "Hey, what you doing?"

"Me, and Erin coming from Wendy's going back to class... How was the doctor appointment?" she asked. "HEY CHRESS!" I heard erin yell. I chuckled. "Hey erin"

"He said hey" I heard bri say. "But, It went good Got some interesting news....." I trailed off. "What?" she asked with concern. "We'll talk when you get home, I love you" she smacked her teeth."Fine love you too" I kissed my teeth she knows I don't like that. "Bri?"

She huffed. "I love you too Chres" she sang. I smiled and hung up.

Aubriella

"Awww" Erin sang. I chuckled closing my phone. "So how was the appointment?" she asked as she pulled into the school parking lot. "He said it went good, and he'll talk to me about the other thing later" she nodded and we got out. We both went inside. "Can I put my Math book in your locker? Mines is filled" she asked. I nodded and we walked to my locker. I opened it up and let Erin put her things in there. I looked around the Hallway and seen Alisha talking to some guy. I told Erin I'd be back and walked over to them.

"Hey Lisha.. can we talk?" I asked. she looked at me rolled her eyes and sighed. "I'll talk to you later Jamie" she told him. He nodded then walked off. "What?" she asked harshly. "Lisha-"

"Its Alisha" she cut me off. I sighed. "Alisha, I'm sorry about what happened. But I was gonna tell you" I said. she didn't say anything so I continued. "Honestly I just found out, me and chres had found out the day before. Nicko told us not to say anything. Yea I did think about keeping it away from you but that would be me hurting you more. So yesterday morning I figured that I should tell you, but you wouldn't answer your phone for anyone" I explained. He face softened. "OK, I accept your apology and im sorry I didn't let you explain last night" I smiled and we hugged.

"So have you talked to Nicko?" I asked. "Nah, he been blowing up my phone but I been ignoring his thot ass" I laughed.

I got home around 5pm, since I had cheer practice for the first time in what felt like forever. I got out of Erin's car and walked inside the house,  and saw chres playing the game. I came behind him and kissed his cheek. He jumped, I chuckled. "Hey Baby" I said putting my bag down. He paused the game. "Hey bae, you scared the shit outta me"

"Where's my baby?" I asked. "Ummm right here" I rolled my eyes playfully. "You know what I mean" he chuckled. "She just went to sleep" I nodded and sat beside him. "So how was school?"

"It was good, me and Alisha are back on good terms, and I'm a cheerleader again" I told him. "See I told you she wouldn't be mad for long" I nodded. "What happened at the doctors earlier?" I asked. "Oh yeah,, Dr. Harris said that Tiana has sickle cell" he said. "The mild one or the bad one?" I asked.

"The mild one" I sighed in relief. I knew what sickle cell was because my Dad's sister had it, but she had SS which was the bad one and she died before my dad did. "So what else did he say?"

"He gave me a panflet and a video on more information about her type. And he referred her to a sickle cell specialist. He said he'll mail us the appointments and the location and stuff" I nodded. "Ok, I'm glad she has the mild version" I said. "Whats wrong with SS?" he asked. I explained what the SS sickle was, and my aunt. He nodded when I finished. "Whats for dinner?" he asked afterwards I chuckled. "Fatass" I said and walked into the kitchen.
