"Its so dark over here, I can't see a thing." Whined Jessica as she waved her hands around the attic.

"Oh, stop complaining! Don't you want to see what we can find here. No one has been here for ages. My parents told me to never to come up here and when grown ups find a place dangerous, it is always interesting" Replied her friend Karla.

"Well what exactly are we trying to find over here. It seems completely empty." Asked Jessica

"I don't know but there must be something that makes this place dang..." Replied Karla stopping midway as Jessica tripped on the floor. "Jessica! Omg are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm fine." Said Jessica and she picked herself up from the floor. "I just tripped over this box ." She pointed at the floor.

Jessica picked up the box from the floor and narrowed her eyes, trying to make out what it was.

"I can't read a thing in this light. Lets head back downstairs, to your room and see what is this." She said.

So the two girls made their way downstairs, through the trapdoor on the ceiling, down the ladder from the trapdoor and across the corridor to Karla's room. They both went inside her pink bedroom, sat on her canopy bed cross legged and place the box between them.

"A puzzle! We went all the way up there, searched for so long just to come back with a puzzle." Said Jessica thoroughly dissapointed.

Her friend didn't share the dissapointment with her. Karla loved puzzles and fixing things. She was delighted with what she had found. She picked up the box and looked carefully at the cover.

It was obviously a very old puzzle. The corners of the puzzle had rips and the box had wrinkles but it was a beautiful picture. It was a beautiful green lawn with sunflowers and two trees, the whole lawn was crowded with people from all different countries, ages and clothes all standing straight facing them.

The people seemed to have come from different centuries because for example there was a man wearing leapord skin and holding a club and there was a young boy wearing jeans and a shirt listening to music through his earphones.

Even though they were from different times, they all had the same expression on their face. All of them were looking straight with absolute horror plastered on their faces and they all seemed to be extremely upset .

Karla turned the box over. It was an extension of the lawn with all the more people with the same expression. There was nothing written at all on the box to Karla's belwiderment.

For some reason Karla wanted to peice this puzzle more than any other puzzle she had made before. She looked up to see Jessica with an amused look on her face.

"You really want to piece this puzzle." Jessica guessed correctly. "Don't worry, I'll leave you alone. I know how you liked to be left alone when fixing anything.

Jessica waved and smiled at her before exiting her room. Karla smiled then looked back at the puzzle. She picked the puzzle box up and sat on the ground so that she could get a smoother surface. Then she emptied the contents of the box and started working on the puzzle.

...An hour later, Karla had almost finished the puzzle. There were only about 20 more pieces left. She could see the picture more clearly. Karla felt very excited about finishing the puzzle. She picked up the last piece and fitted it right in the gap. She got up and whooped with delight. Suddenly exhausten came over her. She felt incredibly sleepy and she staggered and dropped on her bed.

...The next morning her mom got up and went downstairs. She looked at her clock and saw that Karla was running late for school.

"Karla!" She shouted. "Come downstairs! You are running late for school." When she heard no reply she went upstairs to see what's the matter. She entered Karla's room and saw no sight of her. She looked all around the room but there was not a soul in sight. She looked down on the floor and noticed a box on the floor.

Karla's mom opened the box and saw the puzzle pieces inside it. She closed the lid and looked carefully at the cover. She suddenly dropped the box in shock and covered her mouth. Because among the hundreds of people on the cover was her daughter standing in the corner by the trees with the same horror plastered on her face.
