Chapter One

"Ward married Styles"

The bold letters taunted me, reminding me that my father had forgotten about my mother. In a few hours my father would be married to a woman that I'd only met once or twice before. He never cared enough to bring her home often, as if he didn't care about my opinion. Anne was her name, she was sweet the few times that I met her but how else would you act to your future step daughter. Did I forget to mention that she had a son? My father boasted about Anne's sons achievements as if his own daughter didn't exist.

"Blake? Are you almost ready?" The joke that I call my father, yelled for me.
"Just a minute Dad!" I called back, rolling my eyes in the process. I ran my fingers through my hair once more before looking into the mirror. I smoothed away the wrinkles that had formed in the pastel pink dress which contrasted the dark brown strands of my hair. I turned promptly on my heel and exited the room, feeling a sense of newfound confidence emit throughout me. My father was waiting for me at the bottom, glaring daggers for absolute no reason.

"Took you long enough," he said, pushing me through the door towards the limo.

"Geez dad, nice to see you too." I remarked, getting into the limo and slamming the door behind me. After this, what I thought to be a boring and meaningless night, turned into so much more.

---
The day of the wedding had finally arrived. After months of preparation, in half an hour my dad would be getting married. I stood in the banquet hall, greeting a few guests that had just arrived. Lost in my thoughts, time slipped by quickly and soon enough, all the guests were sitting and the speeches had begun. I barely paid attention to the boring shit that my father had to offer however I tried to pay a little attention to Anne's speech. Anne was a nice woman, she just wasn't my mother. My mother was my role model, my inspiration, a fighter. I knew for a fact that my mother fought until her very last breath, she fought for me, for my father. Surprised by the sudden uproar of cheers and clapping, I sat up in my chair and went to go congratulate the newly weds.

"Hey Blake! I hope you weren't too bored by the speeches," My new step-mother greeted me, holding my fathers hand.

"Hello Anne, hi dad. No, no I wasn't too bored," I lied. Anne gave me a knowing look and I blushed in response.

"Have you met my son yet? He should be here somewhere," Anne looked around for her son and frowned when she couldn't spot him. "Well I guess, you'll meet him eventually." I nodded in response before walking away towards the buffet table. Throughout the day all I had eaten was an apple, I guess I got caught up in the all the wedding commotion. I picked up a plate and loaded it with so much food that it was spilling from the sides but it's not like I cared.

"Wouldn't kill ya to ease up on the food," a voice came from behind me, startling me and almost making me drop my plate. I turned slowly and the sight before me almost made my jaw drop. Standing in front me was a tall, young man who was very handsome may I add. He had a sharp jawline and long hair that had a glimpse of curls at each end. He was dressed head to toe in a black tuxedo that made his long legs seem longer than they probably were. I noticeably blushed after realizing that I was shamelessly checking out the man that stood before me.

"And who might you be?" I asked, raising my eyebrows to signify that I wasn't intimidated by his good looks which was a total lie. He looked me up and down which made my cheeks redder than I thought they could get.

"I think the more important question is who are you?" He challenged back.  What was up with this guy?

"I'm Blake. Daughter of the dude that just got married," I sighed. The man chuckled slightly, probably because j just referred to my father as "dude".

"I'm Harry. Son of the bride," He said, surprising me. This was Anne's son? I think he noticed the sudden change in demeanour and continued carrying on the conversation.

"Don't you find it weird that we've never met before?" He asked, surprising me once again. Sure I have thought about it but I never really cared all to much. My father never included me in his personal life, I was just a burden to him.

"Well, I guess we'll be getting to know each other quite quickly," I tried to smile back. I went back to loading food onto my plate and Harry took this as his signal to leave. Things were about to get so much more complicated.
