I knew he wouldn't pick up quickly.
Men like Sameer Raghuvanshi don't rush to answer calls-especially not from Rathore blood.
When the line finally connected, there was no greeting, no recognition. Just silence.
And then, in that slow, polite, calculated tone of his, he spoke.
"Didn't think I'd ever get a call from the Rathore mansion. Especially not from you"
I didn't waste time.
"My wife is in your house, Mr. Raghuvanshi"
Another pause. Slight. Controlled. But I caught it.
"I need to talk to her. Give her a burner. Or give her your phone. I don't care how. Just... give her a phone"
He exhaled - not surprised, but trying to figure out why someone like me would be making a request instead of issuing an order.
"And why would my house be housing your wife, Sarkaar?"
I didn't raise my voice.
"Because your beloved nephew kidnapped her"
Dead silence.
"And you already know why, don't you?"
I could almost hear the gears turning behind those aging mafia eyes.
"And I know you know why he did it" I added "Don't waste time pretending"
He didn't defend Evaansh. Didn't argue. Didn't offer denials.
He didn't even ask what proof I had.
Because he already knew.
Another long silence. This one was colder.
He finally asked-but his voice had dropped an octave.
"Is she... connected to her?"
It wasn't a casual question.
