Check out the media box, its the outfit I picked out for Nadia. Going for badàss...cause why not? She's a hunter...skilled and trained to kill. This book is inspired by the game Bloodborne, ever heard of it? No? Well look it up, the Bloodborne world is what I want this world to be. I want u to get a visual of the world. This is the intro to the story, Nadia here is 12 years old and Henry is 18. This is a flashback as you can tell. In present she is 17.Enjoy the book! Ttyl :)
"Night Henry! Love you!"
"Love you too, now get to bed! We will be safe here for the night, and remember..."
"I know I know, wake you up if I here anything. I got it, we have been over this a million times!"
"I'm just taking extra safety measures, night Nadia"
Henry has always been my best friend. Well, I have known him ever since I was born. He's my brother, and he promised we would always be together, no matter what happen. We are partners, forever together. He gave me a small smile after saying those words.
He has been acting strange these past few days though, like nervous. I don't blame anyone for being nervous. It's like Hell here, literally. The buildings are decaying and rotting, corpses hanging from them, it's awful. Norfolk, the city, is infested with monsters. They were once people long ago, or so we think. They've been here for my whole life, Henry's too.
Henry never gets nervous though, he is always confident going into battles with the beings. Why would he be nervous? We are perfectly safe in this building, and we blocked the door too. No reason to be nervous, right?
During our travels, we sometimes come across people hiding in their homes. They try their best not to be drawn to the nightly hunts, but some don't succeed. The nightly hunts is what changes them. I don't know much about these hunts, all I know is that it changes them. They're smarter than they look too. Most people call it the beast plague. Makes sense, as I hear rumors from the people that huge, powerful beasts roam around town. They are hidden though, as only hunters with the blood of the beasts can see them.
Me and Henry are hunters, but we don't have beast blood. If we do acquire beast blood, we can do a blood transfusion. It's a word we use that means replacing blood with new blood. As in, us hunters can replace some of our blood with beast blood. Only works for hunters because we are, I guess, more fit to handle the blood's power. All we have to do is inject the blood into our system, that's it. I don't know much of what happens after though, some are taken over by the blood and turned slowly into beasts. Some survive, and become super powerful and strong. They're inhuman, stronger and faster than the average person. I have never met a person like this before. Most turn into beasts I'm guessing.
My vision slowly fades away as I drift off to sleep, and the dreams pour into every seam of my brain. The memories come, and I can't stop them.
It's my mother, screaming for help. She's trapped under fallen debris from the burning building. I can't do anything, Henry is holding me back as I try to run to her. My father runs over trying to push the debris off her. It won't budge. I cry uncontrollably as I yell for my mother. I see more debris crashing down, landing on my father. I cry harder, screaming for them. I can feel Henry's hands and neck sweating. He is sick with worry.
The beings are coming, I can see them limping down the street.
"Nadia, we have to go. They're gone."
I refused to believe it, but he was right. We needed to leave, there are too many.
"Nadia, go now!"
I wake up, with the biggest headache ever. Wow it hurts like hell. I wait while lying on the blankets for the headache to disappear. After a few minutes, it dies down. I sit up, looking to see if Henry is awake. He's not, in fact, he isn't here at all. What? I'm shocked, he never leaves me alone. Never has he left me alone in all the year we've been together. I get up quickly, which was a terrible idea. Everything is dizzy and I'm super woozy. I sit down for a few more minutes. When the headache subsides, I get up and look around for clues as to where Henry has gone. His weapons are gone, and I check where my weapons are to see if he left anything there. He took all the food, all he left was potions, lots of potions. Who needs all these potions? It's just a special blood in a vial, used to heal you in an instant. They are found everywhere, but nobody needs this many. I go back to my blankets to sit down. The headache appears again.
I look to my left and notice a piece of would with carving on it. My heart stops as I realize Well, let me tell you. In that piece of wood, the words "Blood Transfusion" are carved into it with a knife. Now you know why I had such a pounding headache, it's one of the side effects.
