My name is Paisley and today is the reaping! I start helping my little sister in her adorable yellow striped dress! She laughs not knowing what is about to happen. Same for my little brother. He gets in khakis and a blue button up shirt. I would rather go in the Hunger Games then either one of them. I slid in a pink and orange sundress and fix my hair into a french braid. A braid matching my sister's. I carry Clay on one hip and Paige on the other. We walk down the square with Colton, my big brother not far behind. When we get there, they prick Clay and Paige's finger. I put them down and let them prick mine. I get Paige settled in her section while Colton gets Clay settled. We told them if their name was called to walk to the big stage. We agreed not to tell the little ones what was in store.

I went to my section and stood next to my best friend Layne. She was so beautiful in her red dress. Im hoping is anyone from my family does get called someone will volunteer for them. This is District 2 after all. Ugh here comes our escort, Obbie, comes out. He taps on the microphone a few times to get our attention. We look up and he announces, "Lets start with our 5-7 girls then the boys." I cross my fingers and hope the name isn't Paige Thress. He reaches in and announces, "Hailey Lockhart." Yes, one down three to go. "Boys, its your turn." Im crossing my fingers praying and praying. "Clay Thress!" no. no! No. No! NO. NO! NO. NO!! Not Clay. I love him so much! He walks up to the stagees  inhappily without fear of whats to come. Clay😖! 8-10 and 11-13 dont matter, so i stand in my spot crying. WHY CLAY?! 14-16 comes up and Im a nervous wreck. I don't remember much except hearing my name and walking to the stage. I grab Clay in a big hug.

At least Colton and Paige are safe. Thats my first thought after the reaping. I asked if Clay could stay in the room with me. Permission granted. Mom, Dad, Paige, and Colton come in and hug us. I know Clay has to win. Not me. He is only 6, he deserves to live. I hug everyone and tell them I love them and Clay will be back soon. Next, Layne comes in and grabs me and Clay tight. We have our last talk. And that was the worst day of my life.
