I pull on some jeans, and try to find a decent shirt. Etienne snorts in his sleep and rolls over to face the window. I glance at the clock. 8:15. I groan and quickly throw open the closet door. I shuffle through it until I find a decent shirt. I pull on the black lace shirt, and quickly grab all the things I need for work. As I run out of the bedroom, I realize that Etienne has to go to work too. I throw a pillow at the clock, and it goes off screeching. Etienne groans and gets up, muttering. I laugh and kiss his forehead gently. "I'll see you later, alright?" He nods, rubbing his eyes. I head out. I pet Smith's, our dog, head, and I head out, ignoring breakfast. As if in protest, my stomach growls. It sounds like a dying tiger. I groan and run across the street to Isla's summer house. I bang on the door just as my phone rings. Josh opens the door, blurry eyed and with no shirt on. I don't look down at that area and stare at his head instead. "Where's Isla?" "I'm coming!" She yells, and she runs down the stairs. She grabs her high heels and yanks them on, grabbing her purse at the same time. She kisses Josh. "Bye Josh." "Bye Isla."

We head out to her car. "So," I say with a grin. "Oversleep?" She groans. "Don't remind me." She pulls her hair into a ponytail and plops down in the passenger seat. I start to drive down her driveway. "Josh wouldn't wake up, so I told him I was pregnant. Still didn't do anything. So I said, screw this, 'Josh, I'm breaking up with you.'" "And?" "And I don't think he cared. I don't think he knows what I said." She shrugs and pulls her dress down. "So anyway. How about you?" I groan. "I feel like crap. Like serious crap." Isla sighs. "Is it that time of month?" I sigh. "I don't know." Her eyes widen. "You don't know?" "Well, I haven't had it for about three months, so no, I don't know." She looks at me sternly. "Are you pregnant?" "I don't know." "YOU DON'T KNOW?!" "I don't have any pregnancy check tests!" "So?" "So I'm not spending money on something I might not use!" She groans and leans back in her seat. "Unbelievable." "Do you have any I can borrow?" I mutter. She blushes. "Maybe." I stare at her as we wait for the light to turn green. "Are you pregnant Isla?" "No! I just....thought I was." I roll my eyes and step on it.

When we get to the office building, we head straight up to Isla's office. As I put my stuff on the hooks, she grabs a ladder from outside and leans it against the wall. She climbs it up, and grabs a box. She throws me a plastic bag, and climbs down. "Tell me later what it says, okay?" I nod, and roll my eyes. I head outside. Amanda and Violet raise their heads and wave. "Hey Anna! I have some movies that Mr. Jones wants you to review," she says, holding up a package of movies. I nod. "Thanks Violet." She grins and the two of them go back to writing something. I head towards the female bathroom. I wave to Andrew, one of my best friends here. He recently moved here with his fiance and his three year old son from Italy. He grins and holds up his phone. "Our review got published in Entertainment Weekly!" My eyes go wide and I grab his phone. "Show, show, show." He points to it. "Ta da." He raises his hand for a high five. "We're famous." I laugh. "Barely." But I give him a high five anyway. "See you later, right? We have to watch that documentary on The Beatles remember?" I nod. "Uh huh. I'll come over soon." He nods and heads back inside. I reach the bathrooms, and, humming, I lock the door behind me and rip open the plastic. I follow the instructions, even though I already know what to do (no thanks to my mom; my dad was having his weird "father talks" with me). After waiting a few minutes, (and after washing my hands about five times because of all the germs in this bathroom), I check the stick again. And I was right. I'm pregnant. "Shit."
