Tryin'a break the chains, but the chains only break me.

Petra awoke beside a body, a tall one at that. She smiled and sat up. She saw his beautiful brown hair sprawled on the pillow as he felt her heart race. His eyes were closed as he laid on his back. The sunlight hit his eyelashes almost perfectly, making her feel more in love.

She threw a leg over his waist as she sat on him. She trailed her finger across his bottom lip as she leaned down. He stirred slightly as she placed her lips against his. He began to react, kissing her as well. She giggled and pulled away. "Hop on up, Doctor, you've got work to do!"

He smiled, feeling happier than ever. He ruffled his hair as he trudged towards the bathroom to prepare for the day, as Petra went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. She looked at the mirror as the food was baking and look at her face. She gasped at what she saw.

Her face was whiter than snow. Her eyes were blood-shot and droopy. The reflection was sitting in a hospital bed with her body strapped down. She pulled at yelled, "Kill me!"

Petra's breath shook as she watched her reflection's head twist, black hair matting to her face, soaked in grease. "I can't take it anymore! Just kill me now!"

Petra blinked and saw her normal reflection gaping. Petra licked her dry lips and gulped. She pressed her hands to her face as colors flew through her mind. So many white clouds and a lot of black and red flashbacks.

"Is the food almost ready?"

She screamed and spun around. Spencer stood there with a hand towel on his wet head, and clothes fitting him rightly. Her heart relaxed, realizing it was him. She smiled and said softly, "Fifteen more minutes."

He nodded and struggled to dry his long brown hair. Petra giggled, making the young man blush. He sighed and sat on the couch. She walked and turned on the lights in the living room. The red-head made her way to kneel in front of him, taking the towel out of his hands. Spencer dropped his hands onto his legs as Petra began to dry his hair.

He smiled up at her as she looked into his warm brown eyes. She smiled back and slowly stopped moving her hands. She leaned forward slightly, feeling love flow through her. He placed his hands on her cheeks as she kissed him. She prayed that he would never leave her.

He prayed that she'd never leave him.

Petra found herself at the grocery store with a coat on, looking through the coffee section. Spencer had ran out that morning so she decided to get him some. She placed the small bag into her basket as she went to the front to pay. She received her items in the plastic bag and walked through the automatic doors.

She looked up and saw one of Walker's minions. "Kara, how nice of you to join me." He held a gun in his hand and a smile on his face. He had acne scars and light blonde hair. Petra dropped Spencer's coffee ground onto the hard cement and out her hands up. He was no more than two feet in front of her, just withing hand-to-hand combat range.

"Kyle, don't do this. You know you'll regret it." Petra spoke.

Kyle scoffed and said, "You're just a pathetic girl, I don't know why Walker asked me to do this. But I have my own vendetta against you anyways. You took Charlie from us."

Petra snarled, "Charlie was practically begging for it! Besides, he's long gone, he left you in the dust. Shouldn't you be angry at him instead?! It was his idea, Kyle."

Kyle's began to pull the trigger at her leg when it all went down. Someone screamed, and Petra began her attack. She grabbed his arm and pushed him against the wall. She kneed him in the gut, making him drop his gun. Petra quickly kicked it away, feeling her of relexes kicking back in.

Kyle threw a punch at her face, bug she quickly dodged his slow attacks. She kicked his lower back, making the older man fall to his knees. Petra grabbed his old hand and shoved it in between his shoulder blades. She used her other arm to wrap around his neck and pulled his head up.

Petra whispered, "Don't try anything."

Soon enough, he was hand-cuffed while she was being spoken to by a police officer. She had a bad cut near her temple when Kyle had pulled a knife.

"Don't worry, Officer. I got her."

She smiled at the familiar name and looked up. His face was getting some age, but he still looked the same as always. His thick brown hair and mustache had some silver in it, and his coat still had that tear that, for some odd reason, seeing couldn't fix. His smile showed some dimples he had inherited from his mother.

"Gilday." She called

He smiled and said, "What do you hear, Kara?"

She laughed and said, "Nothing but the rain."

Gilday sat next to her and said, "That grab your shotgun and bring in the cat."

She held up her fingers as if they were a gun and said, "Boom, boom, boom."

Gilday clapped a hand on her shoulder and asked, "Did therapy smooth over?"

The sun was dying away and clouds started moving in. It was that perfect contrast of dark and like. Petra liked to call it the seven o'clock drive. Everything seems to move more slowly, but in reality, it was just the same as it was two hours ago. Petra stared at her shoes, pondering her reply.

"Yeah. I even met a guy. He's perfect."

Gilday smiled, happy for his old apprentice. "What's this young man like?"

Petra scoffed, "Like I said, perfect. He has an eidetic memory, reads at a lightning fast speed, and he's the sweetest thing out there. He's an FBI agent and he works with some of the most brilliant people. He is so loving towards me..."

"But?"

Petra's eyes clouded as she answered.

"I don't want him to know about Kara Beauregard. If he were to know about her, I'd die. He would become so upset, angry and hurt that I would lose him. I love him so much Gilday!"

Petra was cradled in the older man's arms as she sobbed. She wish she could just break free from Kara, but Kara was a part of her.

Kara was her.
