Fourteen

A few days into the week, Hayes and I are sat in his room. It had been a hectic couple of days. My parents would hate me right now, going to America without their permission or knowledge. If any of my friends saw any of the shit I'd been up too, they'd hate me. And I didn't doubt they had. Maybe now they hated me. But when I got back, explained everything, I'd be a hero.

But the amount of fans I'd had to meet. Posing for photos, kissing Hayes. People who knew Hayes were apparently also Pentagons. My fan accounts and Hayes' tweeted pictures they'd got of us and I felt sick. This was all fake. I was lying to my fans. That's the worst thing anyone can do.
"You okay?" Hayes asks me.
"I'm alright."
"Not long now." He says, "You missing home?"
"Yeah." I say.
"You've been a good girlfriend." Hayes laughs, "I'm sorry it had to feel like this. Not lying I'd date you, legit."
At this I started crying.
"What's wrong?" Hayes asks, and suddenly I don't hold it in anymore.
"Natty's a bitch."
Hayes puts an arm round me. It's a comfort, as there are no cameras or people. It's just us.
"I know." He replies, "I hadn't wanted to use her. She'd interviewed me for her blog and then got back in touch a couple of weeks ago. I told her I needed a girlfriend out of a joke. 'Hey Hayes, how's life? Remember our interview last year? You told me you'd call if you needed something organising I'm still here for that.' And I'd said 'Unless you can get me a girlfriend, I'm out.' Sort of joking but she said 'I can do that.'"
I blink
"I feel like she just gets in with loads of celebrities who she can use through threats and lies." He says
I nod
"So what's she done now?" Says Hayes.
"My friends are the most important people in the world to me." I say, "To keep them happy, I have to stop Natty from publishing a blog post with all my secrets and everyone else's and ruin their lives."
"Oh."
"Yeah. And if they see this stuff, then they'll hate me. You're an amazing guy Hayes, but I have a boyfriend back home. Charlie Lenehan, part of a British duo bars and melody?"
He nods, "Daniel loves those guys."
I laugh, but go back to serious, "Charlie means the world to me. He's everything I need and more. I'm on tour, I'm lying to everyone, and I'm sorry I had to fake this and I didn't tell you about Charlie."
"Look," says Hayes, "When I described this girlfriend to my mum I wasn't thinking of you, but I was thinking of a British YouTuber. She came to a meet up last year I went to, she was a minor, and we got talking..." He sighs, "I'm sure you agree that this isn't meant to be, you and I, and I don't mind, but I'd like to be mates."
I nod, "Sure."
"Look, I think you should tell your friends."
I look at him, and agree, so I nod.
"And maybe you could fly out tonight?" Hayes says, "I can explain briefly to Nash, and my parents, and you can go home and just tell everyone the truth. So Natty can't win."
I agree, "Thanks Hayes."
"No problem." He smiles, "Get packed."

I didn't think I'd be standing in front of the tour bus at this time, ready to go and face my friends and tell them what I'd done, and why I'd done it, so nervous. Maybe it was because I was about to give them the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. But at least they would understand. Right?

I walk over to the bus, and before I get to knock, Blair comes down the steps.
"Penny." He says flatly, "You're back."
I smile, "Yeah hi."
"Come in. The others will want to see you. They're in the venue."
I follow Blair into the arena. Charlie, Mickey, Kelsey, Leo, Niamh, Adam and Jordan, all sit around the same table backstage, laughing. Mickey says something and Adam high fives her. Adam hates Mickey. I think, What's going on?
They stop and Niamh is the first to say anything.
"You're back."
I nod, and she doesn't say anything. She doesn't even smile.
"How are you?" Jordan asks, no emotion in her voice. She sounds like she's bored of me already.
"I'm alright. I've a lot to tell you guys, how are you?"
"We know." Adam mutters, and Jordan carries on, still sounding bored, "We're great actually. You've missed a lot but it doesn't matter. We did great these last few shows."
I nod and no one says anything
Then suddenly "You're a bitch."
"Adam I know it's true but seriously don't start I can't be doing with her." Niamh says, patting Adam's arm.
Adam doesn't listen, "She thinks she can just walk out of the tour and waltz back in again like everything's okay?" He says, and Jordan tells him to stop, but he continues, "She's a big headed, arrogant, self centred, selfish, annoying, RUDE bitch. She's not worth any of our time anymore. I hate you Penny Westfield."
Adam turns away, and my heart is snapped.
"But guys," I start, "I did this because I wanted to protect you guys. Natty..-"
"Don't bring Natty into this." Says Jordan, "She's shown us the truth, shown us what you really feel about us. And that's fine, we don't need you like you don't need us."
I blink at her. What?
"You broke Charlie's heart." Says Niamh, "After what happened with him and Michaela you had him and you did that?"
"I...-"
"Face it." Says Leo, "You are nothing but a bitch. Fancy telling Kayla about me and Niamh. Now neither will talk to me."
"You were supposed to be my best friend Penny." Niamh starts to cry, angry, furious tears, "And you didn't tell me about Kayla you told Kayla about me?"
I blink.
"I wouldn't have been like that with Leo if I'd known. If you'd told me. And I'm not a slut."
I feel like crying
"Fancy saying I only do YouTube because I fancy Jake." Says Jordan, "You know, I thought you cared about me. What you trying to do, loose my subs? I'm for your information not desperate. You're clearly the desperate one."
"I..-"
"Did Hayes dump you? That why you're back early?" She asks
"Guys please, listen to me...-"
"I can't take any more of your bullshit." Niamh says, and with that they get up and walk away. One by one. Niamh, followed by Jordan and Adam, then Leo and then Charlie.
"Charlie I..-"
He looks at me, and his eyes are filled with ice and a glint of tears. "Don't." He says, turning away.

Kelsey has her arm linked through Michaela's, and they walk over to Me. Mickey digs for her phone and unlocks it.
"You might want to read this." She says, "Seeing as this is the reason for your downfall."
I read
"YouTube sensation Penny Westfield has recently been seen kissing and holding hands with Hayes Grier. Not only is this hard to take in, it is also one of the hardest things to suss out. How can Hayes and Penny be together when they have so much distance between them?
According to a witness, Kelsey Bentley; Tumblr Model, Penny was making her exit in the early hours earlier this week, "I tried to stop her." She told us, "But she told me she had to get out of this dump. The people in it were losers and she'd been arranging a trip to see Hayes only over the last week because she "got bored" on tour."
Kelsey told us she then went on to discuss how Leondre Devries was having a relationship on the bus with Niamh Jenkins, Penny's "best friend" when he was very clearly in a relationship with Kayla, and Penny told Kelsey that before she gets the flight she will tell Kayla, and Kayla will probably dump Leo. How true can you get? I am Kayla's Facebook friend and her profile became "single" quick as. Also, we learn that Jordan aka "bamitsjordan" on YouTube only does YouTube because she fancies the one and only Jake Mitchell. Saffron has told me to tell her to stay away, and again we thank Penny for bringing us this news. I think the word "desperate" was used a couple of times in her conversation with Kelsey about Jordan "Desperate for subscribers." "Desperate for a boyfriend."
But how hypocritical can you get? I have plenty of photos of Hayes Grier and Penny from this week, but I've also heard that Charlie Lenehan recently dumped long time girlfriend Mickey for Penny, so unless it was a whirlwind romance, I think that makes Penny a what? Cheat? Liar? Two timer? Hypocrite? Slut? Very hard to believe as they were seen sneaking around before Charlie dumped Mickey, so maybe Penny just lives for her, "man of the moment", shall we say?

"This is bullshit." I say, then it clicks, "You." I say to Kelsey, "You ruined this for me."
Kelsey laughs
"You told her everything I actually said and she twisted it. You were in on this the whole time. The whole time you told her everything. You fucked this up from the start. I bet you had everyone's secrets tucked away under your arm and you chose to use mine."
Kelsey laughs, "Yeah bitch, Mickey's my best friend and Charlie and her suit, you're a hoe and bitch,"
"Go suck Hayes dick." Mickey replies, laughing, "Oh wait that relationship was fake too, because you wanted to save your friends. Seriously? You thought that was going to work? Pathetic. Natty was one step ahead of you."
"I know."
"And your "Pentagons" probably hate you." Kelsey says
"Blair will deal with you now." Mickey says, "But I think you're cut from the show. Before you left you had everyone. Now, Charlie's mine, I've got friends. Even Adam likes me now. You've got no one. You hear that? No one."

Mickey picks up a locket. The one Charlie brought me. She drops it in the floor as her and Kelsey leave and it breaks. The world forever is crossed out; someone has scratched a cross over in the silver, and I pick it up, looking at the inside. The glass is smashed and our picture is partly burnt. I look at it and burst into tears.
