Are we still friends? _____________________ Part 2. Dustin
It felt like hell showing your face at school now. The stares and whispers about you stopped but only because more about them began.
Kami and Dustin were now officially dating.
They walked down the hall hand in hand and sure this had been something that people have become accustomed to but now they had put a label on it.
They were now the 'IT' couple of the school and you tried not to let it bother you but it felt like everything around you was purely about them.
Ever since your argument with Kami, all you could think about was how could she even do this to you. How could she claim to like you and then go and date your crush.
The thought of it made you slam your locker door shut and flicker your gaze towards the couple who was now making their way down your hall.
Your eyes were locked on Kami's but now she didn't gaze back at you. Her expression seemed genuine now. Like she was exactly where she wanted to be. She didn't look at you, nor did she frown—instead she held her head high and looked at her new boyfriend and smiled.
And of course your luck was not good because Dustin's locker was next to yours and Brandt was standing against it waiting to talk to his locker buddy.
You open your locker door once again to hide yourself. Aimlessly skimming through your belongings the couple make their way over and you unluckily missed the glance Kami, shot you whilst making her way over.
"So you two finally seal the deal?" Brandt says nonchalantly turning his phone off and looking between the two who was still hand in hand.
Kami gives a smile and nods pulling Dustin against her and he smiled as well.
Brandt just nods and simply says:
"Thats fucked." Before walking away. He shoots you a glance and you stare at him back with a weary smile before the two of you break eye contact.
You can't say that you haven't been partially blaming yourself because this was your fault. The falling out with Dustin led to him and Kami getting closer and then the falling out with Kami brung them to actually start dating.
You kept your head gazing into your locker overthinking everything. Your decisions, your actions, your words, and especially your loyalty. But you knew even after all this you were a good friend to Kami and god forbid you just couldn't return her feelings.
